I must admit I feel really low after that defeat. That hurt.
Obviously Lovell's injury was a factor, one of the few bright spots is that his injury is not as bad as first feared but when he went off we did miss him. That's not to say Town wouldn't have beaten us anyway, O'Brien's 2nd half try just emphasised how weak we were defensively. In contrast Town held us up numerous times over their line and they defended with real spirit.
In terms of historic lows this is up there with our defeat to Mansfield Marksman in 1986, not in respect of the scoreline but in terms of our respective position's. Whereas Town had lost 12 consecutive games, Mansfield hadn't won for 12 months (35 games, 1 draw and 34 defeats) until we rocked up at Meadow Lane with yours truly in tow and ironically lost 18-32. That game was preceeded by thrasings by Haven (6-72) and Sheffield (14-68) but crucially in '86 the squad strenthened and got better. I just can't see that happening in 2022. We still had belief and hope in '86 but I don't have any now although admittedly feelings are a bit raw.
For any stato's out there Leyland kicked all 3 goals contrary to the Broncos own match report.
Thanks for sharing the pain in the 2nd half Victor, why do we put ourselves through it ?
