Other Championship Clubs : Sat Feb 24, 2024 12:42 pm
Hi All,

Been a viewer of the forum for as long as I remember but never really had an account. With the season starting soon and the cup competitions ongoing, I thought it was important to have a thread discussing the other Championship clubs and see what our oppositions are up to. A bit like a general chat on the full Champ.

Sorry if this has already been started and I've just missed it!

Good idea mate.

Personally I don't know enough about our opposition this year. I know some on here know a lot more.

The championship is, I think , very competitive and sadly underated by the RFL who know less about marketing than me and I know nothing .

Truth be told I really can't see anyone touching us in slightest. I'm willing to have wager we go all season unbeaten.

That’s a bold prediction
We will at some stage suffer a combination of poor attitude, injuries, opposition playing above themselves, referee making blunders and sheer bad luck.

Well come out of a game thinking how the hell we managed to get beaten by X,Y or Z

The last 2 years where I'd say the Championship was stronger, Featherstone lost just 2 and the year before Leigh lost one. So it's not beyond the realms of impossible to go unbeaten but equally like you say one of the factors you mention may come and bite us along the way. We'll See.

While I do see us as favourites, I dont think we will go the season undefeated, there will be clubs wanting ti put one over on us.

Having said that, I only reallly see Toulouse and Fev as a serious threat to us. There will be a few other tricky games from the likes of York and Bradford

I see the table finishing something like the below.

Wakey
Toulouse
Fev
York
Bradford
Halifax
Widnes
Sheffield
Doncaster
Swinton
Batley
Barrow
Whitehaven
Dewsbury

We probably won't but we have all the capabilities of going undefeated.

I think our biggest threats are Toulouse and likely Fev.

Bradford and York are also ones who could give us some trouble if we don’t turn up.

Fev have a skinny side but they have a pretty solid starting 13. I think their game this year is to recruit heavily in the closing stages of the season (like London) and I expect they’ll bring in 3/4 in final third of season and probably look to utilise their dual reg with KR.

The good thing is Trinity players look fit and strong and importantly the skill on show and ball movement has been very good early stages on heavy pitches even. If the players keep that intensity behind the scenes then they will be enjoying a trip out to Wembley for their efforts and possibly win some trophy’s.

Couple of banana skins absolutely but as a club we’ve prepared as well as we can.

As Fev have shown in previous seasons, one bad game, when it counts, in the play offs and it's all over.
Toulouse, Bradford, Fax and Fev will have a real dig and if we start to take success for granted, we will come unstuck.
One game at a time.
