Extract from Sky report:

"The aim by 2026 is to have a top flight with 14 teams and 14 teams in the Championship in 2024. League One remains flexible and there are no plans of merging clubs."

What happens to League 1? It stays, but IMG stressed on Wednesday the competition's outlook remains flexible. They have, however, insisted that the competition's clubs will continue to receive central funding. There will be no removal of funding for the division.

Just pinched this from Our Leagues summary of the proposals,

Participation in the top tier to be based on a range of on and off field measures, delivered through a club grading system with the aim of supporting financial sustainability and encouraging investment into clubs. ‘Category A’ clubs will be guaranteed participation in the top tier whilst ‘Category B’ clubs will be re-assessed annually with the highest-ranking clubs occupying the remaining slots in the top tier.
Promotion and relegation will continue on the field of play between the second and third tiers with tier two increasingly filled with strong Category B Clubs.

The nitty gritty of all this I suspect will be fully understood by our Management and lets see where it all ends up.

The good news from our point of view appears to be that Tier 3 is still going to get central funding and there's no suggestion any teams will be lost from the league.

I understand that a form of licencing may be beneficial if it can attract new investors but on the other hand it doesn't sit comfortably with me because on-field performance seems the right way to establish who should be in what division.

Whichever way we look at it, it is vital that we grow the game or else I see rugby league slowly sinking in the quicksand that is currently surrounding it.

The Super League name appears to be on its way out. This might be because ladies' football uses it so it is no longer 'unique' to our sport.

Craig Harrison believes Cornwall could make Super League under new IMG rules... the Dons also get a mention:

Only Keighley vote against the IMG proposals:

Their stance seems to have struck a chord with their fans.

The Don's stance was to agree with the proposals, no official statement from the club...I suspect the majority of Don's fans think similar to the Cougars board and fans. The only way I can rationalise the choice is that they feel we can get in our facilities etc and tbh that feels a cheap back door way on for me....either that or a combined South Yorkshire side (which I am verminantly against).

The other and more cynical option I see is that someone is trying to score good boy points with the RFL so they can get a full time job there after the time as president and organising the Doncaster world cup bid
