The rfl should be begging for forgiveness from Steve McNamara.

Won silverware and got England going in the right direction. Then they tried Bennett - failure and now Wane.

Steve McNamara won a test series against New Zealand and had the England team making great strides forward. But, because his face didn’t fit they sacked him off for that Australian has been Bennet who took England backwards and made a mockery of Great Britain with that abortion of a tour down under. They brought in Wane who has failed to get England to the final despite us benefiting from the soft side of the draw. Now we’ll be bumped down to fifth in the rankings and won’t even be seeded at the next World Cup.

Flattered to deceive against an undercooked Samoan team in the first game, then played a load of amateurs and lower league sides before failing the first real test. Not good enough. The only reason it went to extra time was because of a marginal ref call and some errors from Samoa.

Bennett won a series against NZ also and made the WC final for the first time since 1995.

Bennet did the best job of the lot. England held their own, in a sudden-death game, against Australia, down under. That hasn't happened for generations.

Bennett lost to Papua New Guinea and chose Blake Austin as one of our best two wingers.

He's not all that.

He'd definitely given in by then, but that was as GB coach not England.

That GB tour was unforgivable.

Until yesterday I thought England far exceeded my expectations…

Before the tournament everyone was writing off England. We lost by the smallest of margins due to some lapses of concentration and unforced errors. If we played Samoa again next week we'd have a great chance of winning. Lots of knee jerk reactions amongst supporters who think it's all a disaster. It's disappointing but not the end of the world.

They overachieved v Samoa in the opener, were less than average v France and played well v PNG.
Unfortunately, some players really came up short in the rematch v Samoa.
It looked like the weight of expectation was just a little too much for some, which is a real shame.
However, The Aussies and NZ are on another level compared to England.
