We don't have a massive squad, especially when the likes of Goulding/Walshaw/Cowling etc have been farmed out.

Wouldn't be surprised for it to be a loan deal rather than a permanent move, I can't see them having the brass (cap in place) to match the wages of a genuine regular first teamer.

I wonder whether this is a prudent financial move following the almost certain cashflow issues we'll have faced as a result of some of the EF sponsorship money not arriving in our account.

Agree although if he is on a big wage as rumoured it makes sense and may ease any issues caused by Eric France sponsorship monies not being paud

If it is Mellars I'm not disappointed, although I hope his salary is used to strengthen the squad either in the halves or the front row.

Suspect it is a cost cutting exercise. My concern is we already have a relatively small squad of experienced SL players so if we let anyone else go to FEV we are leaving ourselves stretched.

Thought mellars had his best ever game for us at Wigan and agar was full of praise about him after the game



If he's off then like others have said the squad gets ever more thread bare. I can't see Fev paying his full wage more like a percentage of it and if thats the case it would not leave that much to re invest in another player

This is my take on it too. Mellars is on far more money than his true worth, it's not his fault, but I can't really see Featherstone being able to stump up that level of money for him.

If its Mellars either we are paying him off or he will be breaking Fevs championship salary cap.
