| According to the Guardian we have given 16 new scholarships, 8 of which are from the town, 1 from Leigh, 1 from Rochdale the other 6 from Hunslet, East Leads and Castleford. Great to have 8 from the town, is it not strange that no one from Wigan, St Helens or Widnes have been picked up or are clubs trying to recruit from their own towns then have a focus area outside it, ours appears to be around East Leeds, Hunslet and Castleford. Oldham used to be one of strong recruitment areas.

| Great to see us picking up more local talent, I just hope we treat them well. Recent years have also had a good amount of local signings.
I'm sure that Oldham will still be an area that we will be looking, always in the hope of finding talents like Sculthorpe, Harris etc.
Josh Thewlis, Nathan Roebuck, Eribe Doro, and Ellis Robson all played for Oldham teams.

| By the time they've acclimatised to Warrington temperatures, people from Oldham will think they're playing in tropical conditions

| You do exceptionally well recruiting in Yorkshire these days, Pete Ridings obviously got good connections still in the area.
In this most recent crop you'v got, arguably, the best 2 under 14 players in Yorkshire. The East Leeds Fullback and Hunslet Parkside Loose/Standoff, theyr both Superb talents.

| Congratulations to those who got them. It is odd Warrington signed arguably the best two from Yorkshire but missed arguably the best in Warrington. They also didn't go for arguably the best two players in the league the Warrington teams are in. Also strange that a lot of those signed from Warrington were from lower leagues, where they've potentially never played against a decent opposition. How can they tell a kid has potential until they see him against decent players? It's almost as if they're just a gesture to some of the clubs and coaches rather than a decision based on potential and ability.

| Maybe the youth recruitment scouts signed who they believed to be arguably the best in Warrington in terms of the positions that they wanted to fill? Good luck to them all anyway.

I've not heard of any. I've not seen any scouts at games from Yorkshire at all, unless they've been incognito and not introduced themselves, which would be unusual. I suspect this season would have been when clubs did the majority of their scouting and they've been caught short by Covid cancelling the season. Saints haven't signed anyone from Warrington I don't think for example, which is unusual, but they've only been to one or two games that I've seen.
The two best in the league from outside Warrington have both gone to Saints, from Halton and Miners. I've not seen who Wigan have signed but the lad I'm talking about is going nowhere up to now. There are a couple of odd names in the Wire list, I won't go into that as it's not fair to them, but there's a couple of glaring omissions from it too, unless there is other aspects to it like Football taking precedence. Like I said I think Wire have been caught short and made a few errors. But they've got time to fix that.

Yeah, that's possible I guess. But would you not just take the best players you can find in every position so the scholarship can function well as a team at age group level, even if you know you'll release them at 16 as there are better in the year above? The lads I'm puzzled about are both exceptional athletes so they could take them and change their position.

Brilliant, thanks for the reply. For any Wolves fans wanting to have a look at how good the lads from Yorkshire are, theres plenty of footage of them on Y/Tube of both East Leeds u14 and Hunslet club parkside u14. You've signed the East Leeds 1, 6 and 13 and Hunslet 7 and 13. With the east Leeds 1 and Hunslet 7 being the 2 exceptional talents.

Is Saddened really a 'troll'?
Yes, he's a Saints fan, but it's not like he comes on here being deliberately provocative - more he comes on here and tells us a few home truths about our side and we don't take kindly to receiving genuine criticism, or the honest views of an opposing fan?
Admittedly, the banter can be entertaining, but personally I always find his input decent and it is always good to receive views from alternative angles - The rose-tinted views can become rather skewed at times.
