well lets look on the bright side, we have got a 10,000 pledge for next season and the crowd could still grow. We have brought some quality players in. Yes we have lost 2 of our best players, but lynch was past it and raynor was knocking on too. Know we have some money to buy a quality player with we have got one more spot an the over seas quota and we have a 6 figure sum of money with lynch to spend.

Who would you want to get who is available at the minute.

I wouldn't mind seeing us put the money on someone like Adam Cuthbertson but with a contract clause (if you leave early... you pay it all back!!!) and Darrel Goulding is available and has the wing / centre versatility... Morrison would be good but we are in a mess and need more than a quick fix and there is nothing to prove that Morrison would do well in coaching, if we were in a better position financially and more stable in the squad longevity then maybe, but not at the moment. We also need to start targeting more youngsters like Marcus Elliott and build a long term squad with structure and class which as we have seen this year can definitely pay off (Lomax, Charnley, Gaskell, Foster, The Tomkins', Whitehead, just a few examples). Out with the old in with the young i say!!!

Meant to also highlight the fact that our academy has been dismal this year and is also a massive worry, people can go on about development all they like but if the best academy teams promote their players and we promote our poorer ones we risk being put the sword even more often!

If you read the Fans Forum thread, there was some interesting stuff that came out about how few academy players we actually had at the beginning of last year and as to why our academy performances last year were not up to scratch.

Why did we have so few academy players? I thought Steve McNamara had transformed the youth structure?

He transformed it into a shambles by the sound of it. There was no answer to your question but it does sound like a monumental balls up.

I still dont get how that guy is supposed to be good enough to coach a national side. He is a joke.
