Found it really odd listening to that TJ podcast.

TJ imho is the best back we have produced in the SL era, Ellis was a better player but the wow factor belongs to Tom. Personally he's my all time favourite British player at the club, eclipsing after many years the great Nigel Bell.

He will be hugely missed, he's still a talent, yet strangely I agree with him, we all needed a change. It just seems right for us all, it just wasn't working for Tom or Trinity anymore, nobody's fault it just happens.

A year ago I'd have been devastated where as now I'm just a bit sad that it's the end of an era.

Of course this has been helped by something that doesn't happen to Trinity very often, some genuine good fortune, a rarity indeed and one I couldn't see happening to us.

The good fortunes and the pain relief comes in the form of Murphy and Kershaw.

No disrespect but IMO Kershaw will never be a TJ, but he's strong, reliable and hard working, yet still has a very respectable strike rate. Nobody will like playing opposite Kershaw, he's an utter pain that never stops. So long as we don't take the mick out of him pay wise, he has the ability to be a one club player loved by the fans, an Andy Fletcher type. He's still got plenty of ability IMHO but is probably not flash enough to attract too much attention from other clubs.

Then there is Murphy, he could be a star, bit early to be sure but he can hopefully take the baton from TJ, as the player who gets the fans off their seats and the opposition worried.

First time I can ever remember us losing a homegrown star player and not just replacing him but doing so twice (I really rate Kershaw in his own way).

For once the 'production line' cliche rings true, couldn't have come at a better time.

In fact I'd say that Kersh is a really underated player
We were better when he came back and played - he was great at Cas.
We call him the "Tasmanian Devil" and mean that in the nicest possible way - don't think its hard to see why.....
He could well be my fave player in 2023 now that my mate Tini has apparently retired.
