Contibutors : Sat Dec 03, 2022 2:20 pm
Hi

The next scheme on the list is a fairly straight forward one.

As we know the old match day programme is now defunct. They were too expensive, the last one I bought was £4 I think.

They are full of mainly adds and stuff you can find on the internet.

The Mighty Trin covers some of that, but it should really cost more IMHO and be more of a general magazine, say a quarterly.

What I've pitched to the BOD is an alternative. A very cheap, just 2 x A3 pages (8 a4 pages in total) (cheapish paper) folded, no staples and very little colour (apart from one important bit) and no ads. All for just £1.

If anyone remembers the old YP green paper on a Saturday night, it's kind of an updated modern version of that but pre-match not post. But with a nice little bonus, but I'll go into that another time. It can be profitable, but like all things will depend on volume but hopefully the cost will see to that. Fortunately the way I'm doing it, the cost is fixed. As the design/content/edit will be free then there are just the print cost, which are relatively low.

I don't want to be too detailed but we are hoping to do a small test run for the Halifax game, with any luck.

What I am interested in at the moment is anyone who'd like to contribute in future.

I'd like anyone who's a bit of a stato person, to compile a word type doc that has the tables and basic stats for the first team and the Academy/Reserves and ladies. Especially stuff less available like top yardage makers etc.I will hopefully be able to connect you with the club for you to get that info.

Also anyone who's got opinions and stories, especially funny ones, who might like to contribute to the 'Bloke from the chippie said' column. Remember though, should this go into full production it will be a Club initiative not a Fanzine, so there are limits and the club will have a final say on content.

Both tasks are just for fun, nothing too serious, it will be a light hearted but informative publication.

If anyone fancies it let me know by PM. I'm doing all of it on the test version, but I'm certain people would soon get bored of my stories and anecdotes, I know I would :D

Surely Trinity Heritage is the place for stats?

Sorry on my mobile.

I think you have the wrong idea of the publication. It’s current stats etc, ditto contributions, it is a scaled down matchday programme in essence and very much about making a modest return.

Also Heritage have more than enough on the go, it’s new blood I’m after. It’s not vital, there are enough people at the club to do it tbh, but if someone fancied it then nows your chance.

As is the current mantra, it’s all about giving people the chance to contribute if they wish. If not no probs

I see what you are saying.

Then whoever does it just needs to use this site.

I think that is your answer. Before kick off and during half time you will find people looking at the top meter maker stats on their mobile.

I used to buy a program to read the CEO's notes and not really much else - it was the only way (even to this day, save for JM's tweets) to get any real time voice out of the club.

And the last time I got a 2 page black and white flyer type thing at a match I was at Runcorn in 1985.

Thanks for that.

I've also been in touch with Heritage and hopefully they will be able to contribute to the past players section.

The publication is after a very broad church of which stats are just one part. There will be a collectable element to it, historical, current and comment, that can't easily be found elsewhere.

For £1 you can either collect them or just bin them, they will keep you occupied pre match for a good 15 minutes and will. make a great sun shade. However I don't want to undersell it either, it's a professionally produced and printed item with a fair bit of fill colour where appropriate, it's not banged up on some old photocopier, imho it looks really good. I'd show you but in a way that would defeat the object, so unfortunately its a wait and see at the Halifax game, when we do a 200 copy test run.

The aim is to create a souvenir of every home game at as the old programme did but at a very affordable price. You may not be that way inclined, which is fair enough, but many of us of all ages are collectors. I will let a bit go, the centre spread will be an A3 poster for the featured player of the week, it will be heritage numbered with a signing area. Just to make its even more collectable, only 14 players can feature because that's how many home games we have. So the remaining 16 players will be available as a pack at the end of the season for say £3.99 from the shop or on line.

It's that kind of thing. If there is no market for it then it won't go anywhere, but if there is its a nice little earner.

I help run the Red White & Blue Army Facebook Group and we will be happy to contribute. Just give updates on what we are doing for the season (renewed sponsorship of Jai Whitbread, Bonus Ball winners etc.... ). If the trial run is for the Halifax game then can I put an order in for 15 copies please and I'll give them out to the Hospitality Winners that we have attending that game. We currently have 30 people attending from the group attending the game in hospitality but we may be adding more in the next few weeks.

Not sure what the plans are in terms of selling it in the ground but happy to push within the group if there are some more details.

Let me know if we can help !

The amount of money raised from that Facebook group in a short space of time has been phenomenal. It just shows what a dedicated fan base can achieve when they put their minds to it.

There's another couple of groups knocking about trying to raise funds too, and then there's the work Vasty is doing on here. Imagine the impact if all these fans could come together in one group and all pull in the same direction? The difference it would make to the club could be off the scale. The RWBA group is showing it's possible.
