The fact the article links him with Saints makes me take this rumour with a pinch of salt. I just can’t see why they’d be in for him or how they could fit him under the cap, so I think they’ve just thrown a couple of random well known club names in the article and hoped for a few clicks.

If we were in for him and it was to come in for French, I could accept it but It would make far more sense to target a fullback or centre from down under.

Agreed. To make an example it all seems very Man Utd esq i.e no real plan, or long term vision. Good player X is available so sign him, regardless of what we already have in that position Vs what's actually needed.

Good teams don't operate like that imo.

Sure I read once that it’s about a 6 or 7 hour drive from where French was brought up to Sydney. That’s clearly better than being over here but it’s not a quick twenty minutes up the road either.

Zak Hardaker and Scott Taylor would faint at the thought of that drive.
