Seeing as we need a halfback and Gigot is being leaving Toulose,, do you think he would be worth a cheap punt or would you not touch him with a barge pole?
Re: Tony Gigot : Thu Sep 22, 2022 9:57 pm
The latter

Not the type of controlling half we need, shame he has left Toulouse.

We need to start planning for the future, rather than a quick fix with a half whose better days are behind him.

Better to play Dean or Hayes than sign someone of this calibre IMO. He's been a good player but a very short term. Signing really. He could play centre though I suppose.

Would be OK with me, for him
to play left centre until Wrench is available.

Nah, put him in the luke gale pile

This something we have been guilty of for a long time, getting someone in just because we can’t get what we really need. Please please no, we should just go with Dean or Hayes if we don’t get the type of player to take us beyond one season.

The problem is, the people who say go with Dean or Hayes, as they need to be given a chance, will be the same people who will want Powell gone after the 6 game trial period he's supposedly been set.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have a fair chance, but having a novice half back, at the time his job is supposedly on the line, just seems like career suicide for Powell.

Dean, just isn’t good enough yet and doesn’t seem to posses enough of the self drive to push himself into selection.

Hayes is young and small in stature, but is hungry and dogged enough to want it.

We have a dilemma that unless Dean is his worse critic, we need a half back until Hayes is ready.

The jury is out, but I have more faith in Hayes overcoming the obstacles ahead than Dean, who is looking like a destined GOB.
