Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have snapped up two of Wigan Warriors’ promising reserve players for the 2011 season.
Neither full-back Josh Veivers, the 20-year-old son of former Huddersfield and St Helens player Phil Veivers, nor loose forward Stuart Howarth have played in Engage Super League yet but both represented Wigan in the last three academy grand finals.
Wildcats head coach John Kear said: “We are thrilled with these acquisitions. They are two highly-acclaimed young British rugby league players who we believe have the talent, drive and hunger to succeed in the game.”

| For those who can remember Howarth played 6 in the pre season friendly at Belle Vue at the start of the year.

| Two decent signings for Wakefield not great but both good players but i personally don't think either is quite ready for SL just yet. I'd say Howarth is the better of the two though Vievers has more to his game and is a good kicker he can adapt well from FB to Centre which is where i expect Wakefield to play him more as he isn't as good as Blaymire. I'd say Vievers is equal to Murphy maybe slightly better perhaps Morton even though i'd say Morton is better though i don't know much about Morton or Murphy so i could be wrong on both counts, However having been to virtually every reserve home game for the last two seasons give or take the odd one or two if i had to say who i think will and who won't make it out of the two lads then i personally think Howarth could make it but Vievers won't but thats just my opinion, Howarth is a good strong runner who never hides away in a game and isn't afraid to get stuck in, He is mainly a 13 though he can play 6 he is similar to O' Loughlin in that he is better suited to 13 than 6 as he isn't much of a creative 6.
hope this info helps i don't know as much as others and others may tell you different info to me but thats my interpretation of the two new signings good luck to Wakefield and good luck to Stuart & Josh for the forth coming season.

| NO full back or Loose would be getting much of a game in the Pies team for the forseable IMO, hopefully it is another Wigan loss ala Luke Robinson and Sean Long as opposed to a Shaun Gleeson

| It's a good move for all parties. They will get experience they won't get the piedome, and we get potentially promising players on the cheap. The downside is that if they live up to potential, they won't be with us for long.

No you are wrong all the young players Wigan have let go in the past have gone on to be world class players and would have ensured Wigan would never have had the long term transitional period that we have been through.
Stephen Wild
Luke Robinson
David Hodgson
Martin Aspinwall
etc etc are all top class players who would walk into any team in the land and be star players. Some of them have even represented GB/England!!!!
Or the realist view every player released by Wigan has done nothing to prove the judgement wrong, except Sean Long who defied the best Medical experts in the land to actually have a rugby career at all.
The truth is Vievers and Howarth were/are never going to be regulars in a team with Championship ambitions, that does not make them poor players, just not top players but I do potentially think both could be solid SL players with game time so a move to Trinity is great for both the players and Trinity. They get the chance to get games under their belt and also Wakefied get the benefit of 2 young players eager to impress and hopefully with bags of enthusiasm.
Personally I still cannot understand how Chris Gerrard has been overlooked if SL clubs are looking for a ball handling loose over Howarth, the only reason I can think is that Widnes are confident of making SL and he is keen to wait for his chance to be there with them in 2012.

Do you actually know why Luke Robinson was removed from the Wigan set up?

Regardless of his "quality" he betrayed the teams trust and leaked a story to the press regarding 1 of the team that ended that players career, what else could the club do? Release the rest of the team.
I personally know who I prefer out of Robinson and Leuleui, I think most people would agree with me but you are entitled to your opinion, even if the player who is the Wigan 7 has been a key cog in the Wigan machine and won the MOTM in the recent Super League final, and also has a World Cup winners medal to boot plus a bag of International caps, while the other has had to float between half and hooker and was not deemed good enough and was replaced by Danny Brough in his natural position by his club coach.
To compare Robinson to Long is an insult to Long who is simply different class to Robinson. For Robinson see Wild, Hodgson, Hargreeves, Gleeson etc.
