| Very telling IMO. Not "if I'm coach" but "when I'm coach".

| Very good interview from Wane.
Agree that it puts Wigan and RL in a good light.
No sour grapes, just the grace and class from Wane that mark him out as a Wigan rugby man. (As someone rightly pointed out on the Potter thread, MM and SW are never going to get into slanging matches - let other clubs and their coaches have a pop in the press if they want to, that's not the Wigan way, we are better than that.)
I don't think anyone expects Madge to stay on after the current expiry date on his contract. He will go back to Australia to manage one of their big clubs having gained a deserved reputation as one of the very best coaches in the game.
I really do hope that the club back Wane as Madge's successor when that happens.

| I wish Madge would stay but it's highly unlikely. I know he will stay to the end of his contract because he is a great guy but sadly he probably wont stay much longer.
Everyone knows that he would love to coach a NRL team and he thoroughly deserves it. Good look to Waney when he takes over. I really hope Wane does take over when Madge leaves as he has learnt a lot and has handled the team fantastically in Maguire's short absence last year.
I wouldn't mind having Ashton back in SL either. Fab guy and I'm sure there will be a door open at Wigan if his Union career comes to an end.

| For such a passionate bloke, who has a reputation for also having a sharp temper and straight talking, Wane certainly manages to set that aside in his interviews and is professional with the press. We can be very proud of how the club have refrained from any slanging matches and just let the action on the pitch do the talking. Very pleasing.
As for Chris Ashton, I'm not sure I would be so eager for him to come back to Wigan. Alright, the lad has plenty of talent and is a brilliant player - no doubt about that. But his professionalism came under criticism in his time at Wigan & this seems to have been confirmed by Shaun Wane. Wane is professional and laughing about it in the interview, but I don't think that would be the case should Ashton return to Wigan like that. He will have needed to have matured, as Wigan IMO are currently the most professional side in this competition & probably one of the most professional, well-drilled sides, in world rugby. I think Ashton would find it a lot more intense training at Wigan now than he does at Northampton. He has the talent (although his defence would come under scrutiny, was patchy while he was here), but does he have the mental attitude? I'm not saying it's not there in Union, but league has been professional for a lot longer and certainly now at Wigan, where our lads have been taken to train with the marines with the sole intention of trying to break them mentally in preparation for this season, it is something that I think Ashton would find hard to deal with.
Good luck to the lad in all his future endeavours and I am pleased that a Wigan lad has done well, but I'm not kicking myself that he left the club or praying for his immediate return.

| It certainly confirms a lot of stories that were going around about Ashtons attitude, and maybe why Wigan were not too keen on offering him a big contract,
