| Funny thing about Hicks was the vitriol raised on the Wires official forum when we'd signed a 30 yr old Aussie winger, who looked a bit overweight in his kit photo, and was obviously just here for a pre-retirement payday......
Yet a just few months into the season he was, rightly, regarded much higher than Monas and King, and continued to maintain a high standard.

| Of course, it depends on the definitions here. Some people have chosen their favourite, some the "best" based on who they were, some those who had most success etc. If I were choosing, I'd go for those who had most impact during their time here given the context of the team they were playing in and our overall success. Therefore, my top 3 would be...
1. Michael Monaghan (which I'd have been astounded at after his first few months; well right up until the 2009 semi final in fact).
2. Joel Monaghan (he just scores tries for fun; there were comments at the start of the year that he wouldn't do it now that Briers had gone - well he has).
3. Danny Nutley (when we were pretty rubbish and had some players whose attitude stank to high heaven, Nutley turned up every week and ran the ball in hard on every set of six when we attacked and did a major stint of marker tackles in defence - went back and became an NRL star and even played Origin, I think).

| Danny Nutley was a great signing who was also close to Man of Steel in a relegated Castleford team and was one of the top props in the NRL.
That was a superb find from Van de Velde as he was a relative unknown at South Queensland Crushers when we got him but in a poor Warrington team he was superb.
I would put him right up with Carvell and Morley.
