Fast with a wicked side-step and good kicking game by the looks of it.

| Any indication of whether Mauro is off quota? Seems he's played for Italy.

Is that relevant in the era of Non-Federation?

| Watching Higgins on those Youtube clips was like watching a very young Long in action.
We all know the pitfalls of signing on the basis of video clips but if only half as good as he looks on there then we've got a gem.
Very worried there isn't at least another prop signed up, know it's not the easiest time to be picking one up but we still look desperately short up front.

| Thought the same MR.
Higgins is a natural halfback in the Long mould. British passport holder too. Under the guidance of Longy could be quite a find. Still need a few big props, but they will come eventually I'm sure.

| Whilst I'm not complaining as Higgins looks a decent player, what do the signings of him and Murphy say to Sneyd, Fages & Evalds? I've watched all 3 in the U-20's and all have stood out just like Higgins does on his highlights reel.

I know what you mean but I look at it that the club by looking at people like Higgins and Fages is looking to a massively talented squad in the not to distant (though I personally think Theo is good enough now with the right people on the pitch around him).
Sneyd seems to have to convince many people of his worth, for me he does look like a Rabbit in the headlights at times but think like Theo he would benefit from having an old head type half back partner.
I do agree with you 100% on Evalds as he looks like a bit of class, reminds me a little of Fitzy as he isn't the biggest in stature but has the heart of a Lion. Murphy I think has been brought in for a month as he has a little more (minimal mind) big match experience, I was like many expecting to hear about the Fish signing today, maybe Evalds will get his shot a little later on when things have settled down.

Very true. On a positive note it was pleasing to hear the DR at the press conference acknowledge the young players. Perhaps Graham Lowe has had a look at our youngsters on video and see's more potential than Matt Parish did?

| Higgins will be on loan as Graham Lowe will think that's the best deal for SCR. Obviously Simms has gone and Lowe with the rest of the rugby admin will do things differently and probably a lot better.
If Higgins is a success he will stay, if not then they've given him a trial and the loan is fair to both the club and the player.
Lowe will have to take who he can right now to improve the squad. Mention made at the Pressy that they are looking at recruits for 2014/1516.
With Lowe there I don't think you'll have to much to worry about over player recruitment.
