I actually prefer the on field ref reviewing the video reply correcting his mistake or confirming his decision. No need to have another person QA it imo.
I've called out poor refereeing performances so only too happy to give credit where it's due. I thought Liam Rush handled the game very well indeed. Some of his more senior colleagues would do well to note his style and general demeanour - in that we'd paid to watch the players, not him.
A routine 2 points in the end against a poor Cas team after a relatively shabby first half. We’ve certainly grown as a team under B.A, and some players such as Lisone are showing improvement as individuals. I’m not sure the credit Arthur gets for a pre conceived plan to grind teams down and then take advantage when they’re shot is a solid theory. I don’t think it was in Arthur’s master plan to have Handley throwing passes into touch, Holroyd coughing the ball up on his own line, loads of missed tackles and failing to score against 3 rd from bottom while they were down to 12 men. I think we won comfortably in the 2nd half because we used our field position better, we got lucky or cashed in from kicks that tested Cas, and maybe we are better conditioned under Arthur to go strong for 80 mins. We have lost games late on when opponents have been stronger, and Cas ran in 3 tries in the last 10 mins at Headingley against us which sort of blows the “grind ‘em down and destroy them” theory. What it does possibly emphasise is just how much fitter we are as a team under Arthur as opposed to “trainings over rated for some of these guys” Rohan Smith. Long may it continue.
I agree Miller was a dereved MOM but I think he has a tendancy to be a bit greedy near the opposition line. There were two occasions yesterday when a pass to Handley would have resulted in a try. I appreciatiate Miller made the breaks and the metres but we can't afford to miss oppertunities against top teams. Still don't rate Croft
