As far as the coach vacancy goes, prospective candidates should be looking at the vacancy as a real opportunity to succeed and make a name for themselves or strengthen their credentials. If it were in my field I'd be asking myself:

* Have I got the talent for doing the job well?
* Is there scope for improvement?
* Will I be provided with the resources I need?
* Is the time frame for improvement realistic?

If the answers yes to all these questions, it's a fantastic opportunity for any coach who wants a successful career.

You are right, it isn't your job, it's Myler's. But that isn't stopping you from criticising every move he makes. I think people are just getting bored of the constant "nothing is ever going to be good enough" approach you take and are curious as to who you would be targetting/signing instead and what you would like to see done differently.

FWIW, I think your previous suggestion that Myler should head over to Australia for a bit is a great one. Get over there, visit some clubs, meet some agents face to face and do some promoting of the club. I'm sure he's been talking to agents over Zoom and stuff but it's a bit different if he can get the chance to do it in person.

Whilst I do agree that the job has the potential to be a great opportunity for a coach and those questions are great ones to pose and consider, the club is going to have to do a lot of work to convince a respective coach on a number of those things.

On the face of it, there is scope for improvement seeing as we are joint bottom at the moment but this is something that has been a gradual decline so we're going to have to prove to a coach that there will be no further decline.

We're also going to have to prove that they will get the resources they need. I think it's safe to say that there's been salary cap restrictions (either through not spending it all or mispending it) as well as backroom staff restrictions and question marks over the training facilities. The club will need to prove that those days are behind us and there will be no more cutting corners or doing things on the cheap.

As for time frames, well that's going to be on the club to provide a candidate with a realistic time frame whilst also showing that the days of three head coaches (and two interims) in four years are behind us. But we're also currently combatting a somewhat toxic, unforgiving and demanding fanbase at the moment that's going to expect to see some kind of immediate improvement on the field. Will the board have the strength to back the new coach and drown out the noise from the fans on what is likely to be a bumpy road back up the table?

Can't see it being anybody other than Adrian Lam ?

Briscoe, Asiati, Holmes, Hardaker & Reynolds make 5 new players - all in last years Wembley team.

If so, his reputation will be made or shot by his success next year, therefore he must be confident in not just their playing qualities but injury status & personal attributes so vital to success.

Sure the plan was to bring Lachlan with him, a quality 7 probably another marquee ? I fear the HDM comments about Jordan Abdul being the perfect foil for Jake & salary cap benefits Etc strongly suggest the contract situation will prevent that ?

All the talk was of quota quality/marquee 7, 9, centre & second row - really worried where some of those are coming from ? As it stands we will certainly have Herman & John Asiati, probably Ligi & Franklin too - assuming Ock & Carlos aren't retained - surely a top class 9 is essential, leaving one quota spot for the backs ? might account for the Hardaker, Abdul speculation.

Makes the Chris Satae speculation even harder to fathom ??

Massive job for all concerned, fingers firmly crossed rather in hope than expectation.

Lachlan heavily rumoured to be going back to the NRL so if his Dad does come as coach, there isn't much we can do to prevent that, so other targets need to be identified

Still think Lam is using us to get a better deal at Leigh. Watch us announce him on a 3 year deal this week.....

Has there even been anything from our end confirming we've held talks with him?

I think Myler said he had an informal chat with him. We've made no official approach
