Trying to be fair, Olpherts was never going to be a first 13 player except for injury and we’ve had injuries.

However I still don’t see what he offers above one of our own academy products and Tindall will feel put out.

Hooley was highly regarded by many and he may just need some time (and better conditions) to show his worth yet. However on that showing I’m not confident we have FB sorted for next year and I’d like us to bring a new recruit in.

Wonder if we might move for Gildart if Fusitu'a is crocked for some time. Would allow us to move Nene to the wing and effectively plan for life without Fusitu'a next year.

Fwiw is pick Olpherts vs Hudds. If we drop hook now , confidence won’t return. We’ll need all our players this year. We just need to get behind them, and encourage the good things…..

I've defended Olpherts and there's a good player in there somewhere, but unless he cuts out the mistakes its hard to see how he keeps getting picked. Tindall seems to be behind Roberts in the pecking order as well as Olpherts.

I'd be willing to have more patience with Olpherts if he was a young prospect, but he's 31, if he hasn't cut out the mistakes by now, he's not likely to now.

Tindall has to get a chance after that show.

At least at his age he will improve and hopefully learn from mistakes.

I can’t understand Roberts over Tindall at the moment I have to say.

Smith doesn't seem to rate Tindall for whatever reason. Roberts does have the advantage of being able to play in the centres as well as wing, but it might also be down to the fact that Smith likes a big team, and for all his rawness Roberts is a big lad.

I know and he did take his try well last week - Tindall is pretty physical though.

Let’s hope Smith has the same decision discipline when it comes to some of the big names we have who aren’t worth their cap space…
