Err I've grasped it thanks very much!
I'm just trying to see some positives in it. Not all overseas signings are bad and I'm not convinced "proven players" are always the answer - there usually past there best when we get them. I'm not supporting or damning this signing but for me the only Aussies I'd bother with are genuine superstars like Lockyear who simply can't afford to under perform and tarnish their reputations or youngsters with a point to prove. The rest I wouldn't bother with.
I don't get this anti overseas thing, personally I'd be happy to watch a team with 10 Aussies in if they were really good - I'm not going to push English players above others if there not at least as good.
The question should be nothing to do with nationality it should be
Do we need a F/B - for me no it's not a priority.
if we do
Do we need that role to be one of a quota player - not IMO there are enough young players in the club/game who can probably match this lad. So unless he's Billy Slater then no - but he could for us.
As many have said in the past, your quota places should go to players of exceptional ability that can't be found at home - but that for me doesn't mean reputation.
I don't see anything wrong with a punt on an unknown thats up to the Coach - it's unlikely that the Aussies would let a real talent go but you never know it's hard to tell at that age. The Sharks obviously thought it was worth giving him a place rather than a local lad. It can happen, his name was Henry Paul so maybe we shouldn't cut our noses of to spite our faces?
