If John Kear's replacement isn't pulling the strings behind all your recent signings he's in for a bit of a shock if he wants to put his own mark on the team.

Why would he be in for a shock. If he is applying, he knows what is going on, and personally I think we are building a pretty good team so I reckon he'll be pleased.

Don't worry - Mr Gentle is more than happy with the signings that have been made thus far and is certain that when he brings Benji Marshall with him from Wests, he'll be a great fit.

What's really happening is that Andrew Glover and Jim Elston have put a load of names in a hat and every day they draw one out. This will culminate on Friday when the Golden Ticket with the name of the new coach on will be drawn from the hat.

There's a fair bit of experience at the club in Tony Dury, James Elston and maybe even an opinion from John Kear. There will be agents supplying names of players, some will be discounted, some will be considered and one or two will be no brainers.

I've no doubt that the salary kitty will not be exhausted and that the new coach will have some considerable scope to add his own type of player(s).

We can not sit on our hands and do nothing, coach or no coach, other teams need only tinker with one or two signings while we have an almost entire squad to rebuild. Therefore it is imperative that we are proactive in the transfer market and secure some of the players now before they make arrangements elsewhere.

The new coach will have a responsibility to work with and get the best from the player at his disposal while probably having some room to bring in a few players himself, That's the job description. If we don't identify and sign players NOW then the new coach will have the devils job trying to pull a competitive team together at the eleventh hour.
