| Regarding centre and wing spots I think as good as Zak is and the potential he has points him to becoming a very good centre I don't really like him at wing. As NK says he struggles to make ground off our line. It will be interesting to see how Douglas goes with the possibility of a few games coming up.
AK is a very well rounded centre, defence, attack and a very good goal kicker. He'll be a big loss especially in defence and kicking. Tricky choice between keeping him for another year and giving the shirt to Zak to allow him to really develop as 1st choice. I think Zak will be looking for a regular start from next year. It does leave us worse off for goal kicking though.....
If as rumoured we are looking for an outside back are we looking for a AK 1st choice replacement or a back up?
AT prop, it seems a no brainer to keep Sam E for next year. He's getting exactly what he needs this year at Hull, playing for a very good coach and getting minutes. I think we always signed him and Chan with a longer term view and understanding of the shortage of home grown props. I can see Sam resigning at Wigan if his attitude is aligned to wigan's values.
I've not seen as much of Chan, I always thought he's too small for a prop but he's dynamic, plays the game at 100% and I think seems more suited to a 2nd row in terms of size and mobility, which is where we are short. His attitude seems to fit very well at Wigan. Others may have seen more of him to rate his 2nd row suitability....

| I have to say I don’t really get the signing at the moment. Realistically we will need 3 outside back injuries for him to get a run.
We obviously have 1 in Miski so need 2 more before he becomes viable for 2025 unless we just give him a game at some point as a bit of a novelty which I think would be the wrong thing to do as it disrespects the shirt.
If the idea was to generate a bit of headlines we’ve not really done much to fuel that fire, so I’m left with the conclusion that this is a us having a serious look at him for a few months with a view to having him in the squad in 2026 to compete for the back up wing spot with Sambou.

| On the Vaughan situation..
He got plenty of stick yesterday from the away end but gave it back too to be fair. When we were singing “you’re just a s**t Ed Sheeran” he laughed and clapped as if to say “nice one. Brierley was laughing himself too and then Vaughan was pointing at the other ginger Salford player as if to say “me or him”
All good natured fun and probably better than the game to be honest
On a more serious note it must be strange for him and his family. All die hard Saints fans and it’s ending like this. I know it’s his decision- make your own bed and all that- but I bet no one envisaged this
Also with another 2 injuries yesterday and Whitby failing his HIA (good job we had that medical review last year..) I wonder if Sambou may get a game next week. He scored 4 tries for the Reserves on Saturday and we'll need to shuffle the back line again if he puts Sailor or Robertson in the halves to replace Whitby.
