Warrington fan here ... Just a personal opinion on clapping players ... I think over 40 years I have walked away from a ground without applauding the Warrington players off on very few occasions. They only time I personally believe you reserve the right not to applaud is when it is obvious that the team are not trying.
Other than that those players are putting their bodies on the line for your entertainment and enjoyment. It doesnt matter if you think they are good enough or the right player. Things go wrongI but if they give their best they should be applauded for it.
Happy clapping isn't about supporting the players on the pitch, it's about just going along with whatever the club decides - even if you believe it to be wrong.
It will always be wrong (imo) that the club has the resources to retain and strengthen the squad - but instead decides to follow the rules of the cap. Especially when the real reason we have a cap in the 1st place, is because other clubs got jealous of our success. Ultimately it's the Wigan fans that suffer because of it. Like I said however the fans are at the bottom of the list of priorities. It's like a badly run Labour run council, they'll do what they want and keep getting away with it. Why? Because they know some simpletons will just keep voting for them no matter what. what are you talking about we have retained French, Field, Wardle, Thompson, Eckersley, Forber, Marshall, Junior, Walters and so on, so most of the team are signed up to long(er) term deals. Now the different question to be asked, is that a good way to manage the team and does it impact on a players performance, when they arent playing for a new deal And, whilst many of us dont agree with the cap, are you suggesting that Wigan deliberately break it and get punished for doing that, thus points deduction or whatever sanction the RFL throw at us in your words, that is the thought of a "simpleton" Not only am I advocating that we break the cap, I'm also advocating that we do it in the most blatant and public way possible. I'm a firm believer that, what's good for Wigan is good for the game (not that I care about the game like). Let the RFL come after us too. We're not here to be friends. Danson is billionaire who owns a media group. If he wanted to, he could drown them in a PR sh** storm whilst tangling them up in litigation. If Wigan one of, if not the biggest club in the game, wanted to make life difficult - it wouldn't be hard. RL in the UK wouldn't last a decade without us and everyone knows it. Time to be more bullish and self-centred. If this season has proven anything, it's that the rest of the league and it's fans hate us. Why concern ourselves with what they want? I’m getting xxBrettKennyxx tin foil hat vibes off this poster. The whole Wigan are bigger than the game stuff though is next level. Break all the rules and then see how much you win…..truly bizarre. Assuming this is trolling at its worst or best, not really sure. This is coming from a guy who once said Singleton was better than Havard and Smith wasn't going to make it. Now that's top tier trolling right there. Wigan are, imo, bigger than the game. You'd think a guy from Wakefield, who supports the club would get the draw of it. I'll be really, really clear here - I want to see the club that I support be able to determine it's own destiny. I absolutely believe in the potential of this club, it's history and think it could be a major sporting brand. If, in theory, Danson ever had a vision to create the RL equivalent of the Galaticos and wanted to run a £10m playing budget then he should be able to do so. We shouldn't be cucking ourselves however and seeing good prospects like Hill walk away because we've been forced to choose between him and Junior. If the club can't afford him, or don't want him - that's another matter. We know that's not the case however. Hardly controversial stuff really is it? Unless you hate Wigan that is... Welcome back Brett. I see the time away has not made you any less militant or sensible. You want to create a super brand by destroying a sport….how does that work? Wigan win everything by 80 points each week see how quickly people continue to watch the sport. It’s absolutely ludicrous but I’d expect nothing less. May look back at my DMs from years ago for a chuckle if I still have them.

It won't happen, but this season has proven we need to look at the quality of our depth.
Realistically, there's only 3 lads who've proven they are ready for the next step. That's Walters, Junior, Forber and Zak.
You can easily argue that Walters & Junior aren't back-up lads anymore either. They are in the 17 nailed on starters.
Zak and Forber are squad players, but you know they aren't a million miles away either. You don't lose loads when they come in - in fact they offer something different.
Either way, no one will argue that are the four that have stepped up when needed.
The big question is now - Who's after them?
It's probably Farrimond and Hill who are the ones you'd point to as being the next level down. Out of these, Farrimond is a million miles away from dislodging French and Hill is leaving.
Vaughan might be fall into the same category as Hill and Farrimond as in "can do a job, but won't push to start".
Makin, Kerr, Sambou, Mason etc all seem a long way off the conversation.
We need more depth.
Having quality depth is going to get harder with the increase to 14 teams and it will need to come from within more often that not. I think Makin and Kerr can step up for us next season but we probably do need to bring in somebody from outside as a starter, which will then push maybe somebody like Dupree or Mago in to a back up spot. HKR voting against the increase to 14 teams interested me. I'm not convinced it was done for the wider good of the game and was likely because they're worried that their 'depth' could get picked off, to become starters at other clubs. They survive pretty much solely on players brought in to the club and with 2 more teams in the league, it will become harder for them to fill spots 18-25 with guys like Doro, Brown, Kershaw, Richardson etc because other clubs are likely to offer them more money and more minutes.

| I think there's plenty of lads who can step up and play, but I kinda want or expect more than that.
Junior and Walters haven't just knocked on the door - they've knocked it down. Forber landed on the bench and it was seamless. Zak has been somewhat patchy - but overall he's produced some big moments.
I'm not getting that feeling from anyone else around the squad. Maybe Farrimond, but to be fair to him he's got Bevan to shift.

It would be nice for sure. I don't really know of anyone who could come in and have that Nsemba style impact tbh. I don't think the academy has done quite as well in recent seasons, so maybe they're just not there. I do think Kerr will be a top talent in time but he doesn't seem the sort who will come in and smash the door down and I think he'd be one who would just get better and better with time and experience. I'd probably put Kian McDermott in the same bracket. Guys taking to it like Nsemba are pretty rare though I suppose. I agree Farrimond would be pound for pound our surest bet of being a top player but decisions will need to be made down the track in terms of how you get him in to the side (or if you can).

| My worry I guess is how easily guys like Dagnall have slotted in at Saints. I compare him to someone like Douglas and you can see the levels between them.
It's a worry for the academy imo.

| I think there's no question that Wigan's Academy isn't as strong this season. However you don't need all of the team to come through to first team, just needs 3-4 who are real class to step up which I'm sure will happen at Wigan. At any club it's rare to find more than that number within a squad, making it at first team level
Your scholars are very strong which will form the basis of your next Academy
