There's a clear route for Sam to push his way into first team contention next year and it's entirely in his hands.   I'm pretty sure Wigan will have been very clear with him about what he needs to do  - and playing under a good coach at Hull and getting game time this year gives him every opportunity.




It looks a pretty smart long term thinking from Wigan, as decent prop forwards are hard to come by and also hard to forecast how promising young props will develop.  We've obviously taken an educated gamble in taking players like Chan, Esah who were obviously a way off first team starters when they arrived but if we get at least a 50% return then I'm sure it will pay off.

In Havard, Thompson, and Walters, we have props that can do big minutes, so perhaps there is a logical shift towards wanting the bench options to offer impact. Mago offers that but the others a bit less so.

Biggest issue will be that Hull probably offer Eseh a deal for 2026 in December of this year.  Wigan haven't really shown much faith in the lad have they.
