Charnley till the end of this season, apparantley. Yikes.

Obviously some youngsters might be fine. But in general I would be very careful just how you introduce them to a very tough sport. The simple  idea that the next player in the team below just steps up is madness. Academy players are miles off physically. They get crunched or eaten alive ... unless of course you are Alex Murphy. Best if they can be introduced steadily.

Next man up is what Burgess has been preaching. Frank Sargent as been here a while now when his he supposed to get a chance.

The player currently keeping Charnley out of the Leigh 1st team is Keanan Brand.


A young player that we recruited from Widnes, but was released to Leigh on a freebie by Wire, without being given a proper chance.


Leigh are off loading Charnley now and if we sign him, it illustrates the incompetence of the Wire succession plan for our team.

The next man up is often preached by most clubs. I suppose it is meant to motivate those not in the first team. 
In reality (and being a cynical sod) it ought to be "next man up when it suits". 

That's an excellent example.
