Listen carefully to the conversation, especially at the end of the interview. Tomkins asks Crowe if he is interested in "a scrawny full back.." Crowe says that he already has Greg Inglis.
Then Crowe says: "If you ever want to have a conversation... you're a brilliant player.."
Then Crowe says: "Don't, whatever you do, go to an NRL club that is not in Australia."
In other words, he doesn't want Tomkins to go to the NZ Warriors.
Looks pretty obvious from this that Sam Tomkins is seriously considering an offer from the NZ Warriors. On the other hand Crowe would try to find a place for Sam at South Sydney, but not at full back.

Inglis could very easily be moved into the centres, like he is for Queensland to accommodate Slater, if Crowe and Maguire think Tomkins will bring something to the team from there.
Don't see him playing at 6 as Sutton and Reynolds both offer more in the halves than Tomkins does IMO

Souths have improved massively since Madge moved Inglis at fullback, he has more involvement and influences the game a lot more from that position. I don't Souths need Sam or could afford him with the talent they have in their current roster.

There might be nothing in it, but then I'm sure most clubs, including South Sydney, would always be interested in a player the quality of Tomkins.
Also, fair play to Tomkins, he didnt do too badly interviewing people, better than Eddie anyway.
