Quote Conorgiantsfan="Conorgiantsfan"It really bugs me this - I'm watching Munster Ospreys, and the coverage is 400x better than that of Super League. I know its a European Game, but simple things like the tackiness of the graphics, and the things that make the game look better like slow-mos of the training and the kicking. You'll say that it'll have a bigger budget, but graphics don't cost much. In My Opinion, they're coverage is average compared to Union, and it should be as good if not better.
A few things I would do would be:
1. Re-design the graphics, make them a little more user friendly.
2. Get a new presenter, with a younger face, someone that people watching can relate to.
3. At some games, use the crane, at games where it's practical, like the Galpharm, and the DW and other ground with a lot of space around the ground - not at every games, but at a good deal of games that are 'big games'
4. Get more spots on TV, the Union Games are publicized massively, and RL gets squat. I only saw one spot on TV, for the Play-offs, it would be in Sky and the Games interests if the game was plugged more.
5. Get one, if not two slow motion cameras at games for effect. It's useful for the Video Referees
6. Cut the Gimmicks. FOR GOD SAKE! Brian McD does not need to tell us about every try after the conversion.'"
That's nice. What would you like the RFL to do about it? It's Sky that broadcast the game and they are the ones who chose how that broadcast is put together. They're also responsible for advertising their televised games.
Additional cameras cost money. As it's Sky that would be paying for it, why should they pay out more money than they need to for a minority sport?
If it was a case that RL rights were sold like football ie broken into blocks and rules in place to prevent one company owning all the rights, then there might be scope to encourage the TV producers to make their coverage better.
Though, tbh I don't see any real difference between presentation of RL and RU when the games are actually being played. The analysis might be a bit more polished but that's down to the presenters.
My advise to you would be to write or email Sky Sports with your suggestions and see if they think what you suggest is a good idea
At the end of the day, we're not football so we're marginalized. Brilliant example of this has just been on SSN. They were giving a round up of the RU games played today and as they got to the Leeds Carnegie result said "well all we'll say is Leeds have won, as there's been a goal at White Hart Lane"
