2023 Fixtures : Sun Nov 13, 2022 5:10 pm
Few things to note:
Long run of away games in July,
The London away game is the night before the Challenge Cup final,
Cornwall away is a Saturday

No home games between 12th June and 5th August isn't good from a playing point of view but it's not great from the fans' point of view either.

The three home games from 12th June to the end of the season are two walkovers against W Wales and Cornwall plus one competitive game against Dewsbury... not good.

Club Doncaster clearly believe this is a price worth paying as we no longer have access to the 'second pitch' or have an alternative venue in Doncaster that can be used.

The set up in this league with so few teams and plenty of non-competitive games doesn't help. Getting out of this division must be a major priority or else rugby in Doncaster runs the risk stagnating and declining even further.

Carl Hall has repeated his statement that the Don's are going up next season. So one might have thought the squad is to be considerably strengthened but with no disrespect to Brad Knowles and Elliot Hall, what is the justification for that claim. With the exception of the two players mentioned the squad is looking just the same as our last failure. So what on earth is Hall on about. Are the other teams in the league going to be a walk over.Same old same old springs to mind.

I think we need to wait and see the full squad before we draw any conclusions but our aim should be to put together a squad that would be on a par with Keighley's squad in 2021.

If we don't improve our squad from last season, then we'll be relying on the other League One teams not improving and the clubs who came down not being good enough.

I'm hoping we've got some new signings still to be announced to reassure us we are moving forward.

Looking at our main challengers going into the new season, I see Hunslet have signed a few quality players ,Oldham have signed most of Rochdale's better players from last season while Dewsbury look to be signing kids previously at SL clubs and Workington look to have the same squad as last season.

I don't think it will be the cake walk Mr Hall thinks, however I will withhold judgement until the rest of the squad is announced.

Very much a feeling of same old same old - thus far we've failed to strengthen in areas that we've been lacking in for two seasons - While Hall and Knowles will add something there I don't think they are enough to close the gap on the better sides. The FB gang are the usual "Isn't everything great" crowd - it's good to come here for a realistic view.
