Odd game today, had the feeling of a testimonial. Haven gave everything, we weren't at our best. We really need some guile in the halves. If Lino/Gale are not fit for the play offs then Trueman, if available, needs to play.

I thought we registered 60 points?

A strange game, I found it hard to get up for it in the stands, with their financial problems, lack of players and our strong physical pack, it was a professional performance by us, but the celebrations were definitely dampened by what as been going on up in Cumbria, hats off to them, a gritty effort and I wish them well for the future

Indeed. They were never really going to have a chance of winning but I thought they stood up to us quite well early on.

I can't really understand why they have so few players. You'd think a Super League club could lend a couple of fringe players for a couple of weeks.

I thought that teams couldn't add to their squads as it's after the 'transfer deadline'.

Ah, you make a good point.

Not going to lie I felt a bit ropey yesterday (self inflicted) and used it as an excuse not to attend.

Don’t think I ever did that prior to this season.

I genuinely thought I’d enjoy 2024 seeing us win for a change but I’ve found the majority of the season very dull and lacking atmosphere. The highs have been Wembley and Toulouse away despite the result in the latter, but there have been some very flat games this year where we have had it too easy, never really got out of second gear till we needed to and as such not generated much crowd engagement or atmosphere.

It’s not a criticism of anyone or the club, it’s just a reflection on where we are at the moment, and whilst we more than likely won’t be posting big scores and picking up nearly as many wins next year I can’t wait till we are back in SL.

I guess the playoff games will provide an atmosphere because of the winner takes it all sense of occasion so I’m looking forward to them.

I'm enjoying the season but as I've said before, I kinda look on it as a massive preseason to Super League with 2 cup competitions thrown in.
I can't wait to be back in the big show.

Me too. I felt bored at times. Sounds a bit negative but I hold my hands up. The lack of tension knowing that we will be winning by 30-50 points has zapped my enthusiasm this year. Next year will certainly;y have some tension, and a fair few losses so I guess we take the rough and smooth.

Flip side I am REALLY looking forward to the York game. Thats got some interest and they are playing some football under Mash.

It is strange turning up knowing we can play as loose as we want and still end up winning. Yet for all our dominance in the vast majority of games we are so shoddy for long periods that I can see Toulouse beating us again come the play offs. The last ten minutes yesterday had a couldn't be ar5ed feel down that left edge as we conceded two short kick offs and a soft try down that side.
I feel turning up these days is just going through the motions, similar to the team I guess.
