[quote="Trojan Horse"]What a shocking half that was.

Is it that hard to give it to a forward and have them charge down the middle to tire out opposition?

Spreading it wide all half and knocking on, not finishing sets. Thevtsctics are completely wrong for this and now the team find themselves with a massive slog uphill this half.

Kay in the middle was such a horrible move today. Needed another forward to charge it down middle.

Batley hardly had to work that half and are probably looking like favourites going downhill.

Worst half of rugby in the new era. Pure dumb rugby.[/quote

Losing now

Long way to go yet.

That looks a bit more under control.
Need to keep concentration.

Just doing what we should have in first half. Run it on hard with the forwards down the middle.

People wanted a more competitive games, well they got one. Let's be straight, we play error free most scores will be a blow out, so far this season the error rate is the most concerning part of our game. We make too many to go unbeaten this season, always inviting pressure. 2nd half seemed more composed today.

We need to be pushed, we need to make errors, we need to get better.

If we go back up with having to deal with some challenge and adversity, our return to SL will be a rude awakening.

To be fair. Batley are no mugs.
They pushed us. We didn't handle it perfectly. Half time Powell tweeked it, we ran away.

I'd even say our GF and 1895 will be a rude awakening without games like this.

It's not like Sts are perfect every play. They are sometimes under pressure and work out a way to win and win well.
That's how I see us going in this league. We are being tested and are using it to improve.

If we are still making the same errors after half way then it's not working......but for now I'm OK with how we are going.

It was the tatics today that first half that were totally wrong. Trying to play expansive on a narrow pitch down hill was silly. 3/4 drives from quick plays was what we should have done. Another prop or forward at 13 was what should have happened. The errors were because we weren’t playing direct enough. Strangely something we did uphill in the second half. The forwards won that second half with direct plays. Rodwell and Uele took some big carriers today and probably MOTM candidates.

I’m sure Powell will have had some choice words at HT but the team rolled their sleeves up and came through. We just made it harder on ourselves rather than Batley.

The errors do need tidying up a bit though.
