No point having an Academy. Look at the IMG proposal, you get no points for running one!
Might as well do what Salford do, save our money and buy a Brodie Croft when they become available.
I think the may well have been the final straw for MC, for the past few years he’s always praised the Trinity Academy set up, even saying it cost £100,000 a year, he believed an Academy was a vital part of the criteria, and must have been gutted when the criteria details came out. I did listen to a rugby programme Monday night, a few clubs think it’s unfair that some clubs not spending money on academy, there was the suggestion of possibly awarding points for an Academy from the points of one of the other gradings. Still hope I suppose.
Afraid it does. I'll name drop here but I was talking to JM just last night and he said it's not in the draft proposal. I think it's 18 points available in total. You actually get a quarter of a point for an electric screen but nothing for running an academy. Apparently it's on the RFL website. I have not checked myself but I doubt he's wrong. Of course it's only a draft proposal at present.
I've just reread it. Although it doesn't say academy, it says there will be minimum criteria and says as an example, a Grade A must run a ladies team. So I might be wrong about academy, but there is a minimum criteria.

Makes a mockery of the whole process. I thought the whole idea of bringing IMG in was to improve our chances of competing against the Australians amongst other things. I'd say it was a huge priority and was worth at least a point, maybe more.
If it isn't added the first thing I'd do is scrap our academy, stop trying to be a community club and just spend it all on Aussies. It's totally wrong for the game, but looking at Salford it's almost certainly right for the club all things considered.

You can call it that but having no points it has no value, it's meaningless and contradictory. If you get the max points or near max points then you will remain in SL, Academy or no Academy. The only teams that will be affected are teams trying to gain access to SL in future as far as I can see. This is why suddenly clubs like Fev are joining Keighley in opposition and some SL clubs are questioning this particular issue.
Only a consultancy could come up with the logic that a screen is worth a 1/4 of a point but is can be worth 1/2 a point if you also install digital perimeter advertising, yet a youth team gets you zero - utterly bizarre imho.

Can't remember if it was 2006 7 or8 we had the super league academy champions remember watching play Tommy makison was playing with saints currie with warringtonwatkons with leedsjust mentioning some of the quality that was playing at the time what happened to our lads some like mattie Willie and Kyle Trout have made a living in the game but wakefield as a club wernt prepared to develop lads who could have been the backbone of a team today

That's because none of them were good enough, as shown by their subsequent careers. If you are good enough you will make it, so that argument carries no water with me. Are you seriously suggesting any of those players were ever in Makinsons class? That 2009 team was a great team but it wasn't full of great players, there is a difference.
As pointed out of academy doesnt make any difference to the criteria then it really shows how little img know, yes its good for the likes of salford whos reserve and academy set up is no different or better than batley boys no disrespect to batley boys, but instead theyvcan sign brodie croft,so where is that going to help the game, more and more lads are packing the the game due to lack of financial gain at such a young age once clubs see theres no need to spend all this money on academys then more will pack in so in 10 years time we may have fancy screens but no quality of players to play

Yeah of course you can, you being that famous coach, Bob Anonymous. We can all say tosh like that, that's what makes me laugh about people like you, Mopsey and Avenger. You hint you are something special in the game but you never say who you are. If you were that brave and credible you wouldn't need to hide behind a user name. You lot must think the rest of us incredibly gullible.

By the way, I'm Wally Lewis, prove me wrong.
Why have you brought me into this, Can you justify your statement by quoting a post from me where I’m hinting at being “something special”!
