In terms of retention, I think It`s concerning to hear when the club just don`t seem to let some players know at all what's going on when there contracts expiring, if I was a player that had the option of joining the club I would probably be put off by that kind of behaviour.

And you know that how? You seriously believe that's what happens?

I am sure you will know if Croft and Shaw are staying if the club are so open in keeping the supporters for example up to date. I don’t remember them ever confirming Evans departure, why the secrecy only they will know. I suppose who you believe depends on your own view of the club, you for example support without question which is your choice, I don’t until they prove me wrong.
Tbf, if you were a player whose contract was expiring, surely, it would be up to you to ensure that you have something for the following year ? Having said that, it's strange if the club haven't said anything to the player.

Who says they haven't! Just one players word in an off the cuff statement, seriously.
I'm sure the club are so pleased to hear that people think so little of them!
He had a contract. It expired. I'm sure he was thanked for his services. That's how contracts work.
I don't know if he meant that he wasn't told whether he'd be offered a new one or not, but that is a conversation that doesn't need to happen. If we end up short of wingers when the recruitment ends, he might get another call. But why tell him no when it isn't necessarily no.
IIRC about 4 years ago (??), Rocky's contract wasn't initially re-newed and it looked like he was leaving but eventually a deal was agreed and he then signed up again, so I'm guessing that the door could still be open for the likes of Croft, Shaw etc. ??
