Disappointing players : Sat Oct 01, 2022 10:48 pm
Players you thought would do better than they did.

More recent ones for me

Brad Walker - he really looked like he had something in his first few run outs. But then he never did much after that and I recon he had enough chances tbh. I still think he did ok but never did enough imo to really stake a claim.

This is not a thread to slag players off, just to voice your genuine disappointment that players you liked didn’t quite cut it.

Matty Wildie was another one.

Please feel free to add.

Steve Southern for me. Came with a great reputation.

Not a disappointed players performance as such, but disappointed that we never saw him play for us.
Paul Taylor came to us from Oldham, a tough aussie scrum half. who when I heard he was coming to Wakey thought we had made a great signing. Unfortunately got injured in his first game for us (in the few minutes of his debut) and returned to aus.

Along similar lines to above Shane Tronc. Thought he was a class prop forward but didn’t he end up homesick and we only saw a few matches from him. Disappointed not to see more.

Otherwise I’d have to go back to Pearman years to be really dissapointed. The likes of McNamara and Goulding who came in that season and were from my memory at least very poor. On paper we had some talent but on the field didn’t see it.

Jarred Hickey - was one of the most dissapointing signings I’ve seen.

Anthony Tupou. Was supposed to be a major signing for us but sadly age and injuries had already got the better of him by the time he got here.

Prior to Super League i alway thought Aaron Whittaker should have been better than he was. He wasn’t that bad by any means but i just always felt there was a really good player in there that never quite came out.

Anthony Tupou, Issac John, Harry Siejka, Lopini Paea to name a few in recent years.

Brad Walker shouldn’t be on that list imo, played for Trinity in a very difficult period and required to cover various positions having only previously played 8 SL games prior.

As ever you miss the point. I thought it was obvious but let’s try again.

I’m disappointed for Walker not with him. I think he did his best but for me he didn’t kick on like I hoped he would and seeing as he’s dropped to the Championship he probably feels the same. Had the skills but couldn’t step up for whatever reason.

Let’s stick to the spirit of the thread please. Just players who disappointed you and just you - nobody needs to defend players chosen, it’s just your opinion. That would be nice of you, thanks in advance.

That’s very true. For me he epitomised the kind of Aussie who doesn’t add much if anything you couldn’t find locally.

Pauli Pauli was disappointing but you could see why we took a punt as there was no British player available with similar assets.

I didn’t get him at the time, he wasn’t a disaster but added nothing imho.

Probably going to get blasted for this one but it's what I think anyway.
Jacob Miller disappointed me, not because he wasn't a very good player, but because he possessed all the skills to have been a great player for us, I just felt he didn't back himself enough, he had all the attributes in eyeing the gap and a good burst of speed but seldom did he go for it.
That said, I feel he's going to be very difficult to replace!
