This is rugby league, nothing stays the same for long. We may have two or three seasons operating in line with IMG ideas and then tinkering will start, then wholesale changes and finally back to where we were at some point in the past. A couple of years at that and then the next bright idea will pop up.
Aside from the fact that these guys have a 12 year contract and they will be worth some serious cash.
Many on here will have experience of consultants and usually, they are just an expensive distraction, brought in as a scapegoat for some serious cost cutting measures but, I dont think that is the case here, after all, without culling clubs from SL, which costs are there to be cut.
I repeat, a 12 year contract !
Unless they have some very, very good ideas on increasing revenue streams for the sport, that actually work, it's difficult to know if they can actually change the course of the sport and make RL something more than a "small time Norther sport".
A good starting point would be to ensure that the world cup is actually covered by the UK press, rather than ignored in favour of our more illustrious cousins (Union).
The average man on the street probably doesnt know that the WC starts in less than 2 weeks and at this point, some of the games should be sold out but, "we" wre happy with just 35,000 tickets having been sold for Newcastle.
It's fair to say that RL has a huge amount of ground to make up.
