I didn't notice before if they had already done it but there are steps up to the top tear of the North Stand now from the lower deck. Think there were 4 lots.

I pointed this out at the Fev game, just no rails which is why it wasn't easy to spot.

FWIW - The wee against the wall toilets are definitely still open.

from being at the game yesterday i would have through that a bit more of the railing for the north stand would have been in place.

although from some pictures afterwards looks like the concrete walk way which is half way through the stand is setting so could be waiting for that? hope the north is open for the Catalans game, atmosphere is needed

Chatting with JM yesterday, he said that the left hand side of the Upper Tier North Stand with the barrier up and as you look from the flats would be open for the Catalans game.

Looking at the tickets available for the Catalan game on the website - there is only the option to purchase tickets for the the north stand lower. Seems like only the lower will be open?

Suspect JM knows what he is talking about. They wo nt be selling tickets for the rear of the North stand because with only half open there will probably only be room for season ticket holders

Probably can't guarantee itll be ready/enough capacity so season ticket holders only for that area for the Catalan game. If not ready, its easier to ask the season ticket holders to move to the lower for the game, instead of opening themself up for the inevitable moaning of fans getting a ticket and not been able to go in the upper section.

The problem now is that the improvements made just highlight how poor the rest of the ground looks. The situation in SL now is such that we may believe how good the redeveloped areas look but it is not the supporters they have to impress but IMG and their rating factors.

I agree that IMG have to be impressed but I'm not sure about the "rest of the ground".

Once the area is tidied up at each end of the east stand, I think it will look grand. Yes, the west stand is a bit rough, but the flats look fine, and to some degree are quite iconic. For all the talk of how wonderful Headingly is, the west stand there hasn't changed in decades. The Hull KR ground looks great in parts, but the two stands along the side are looking jaded, and there's nothing there for about a third of the ground. Salford is nothing special apart from one really good stand (I say that with the caveat that it is a perfectly good ground). Wheldon Road is a classic old school ground, but it is poor in comparison.

Will we still have the worst ground in Super League? No. Not at all. In fact, when you take out the grounds that are football stadiums too, ours comes out quite well. When IMG are tucking into their vol-au-vents whenever they are invited, I'm sure the overall impression will be positive.

I also think the flats are fine. They get some stick from many fans of other clubs but I am sure if they actually watched a game from there ,they would appreciate they are quite good.
I also think the rollin shack has improved and is also a good part of the ground. However 'shack' is a bad name , couldn't they have thought of something better
Describing the West side as a bit rough does it justice, I think it's terrible. It would be a massive improvement if that monstrosity of the portacabins was removed. I have seen better looking buildings knocked together out of old rubbish on allotments.

It’s a shame the South stand boxes couldn’t be denounced and made to run along the full width of the pitch. A 2 storey block with seats in front would look much better. It would still offer an elevated view, hospitality, bars & toilets but would help complete the stadium
