IMO I don't believe he confirmed it, I don't think he meant it as final, what he stated was the options he currently has after signing Smith. It's only mid October, plenty of signings to bring over the line yet.

So you'd have him ahead of Lyne & Hall? I thought he did ok there, certainly better than full back, but not sure he'd be ahead of the two i've mentioned.

Not hall but In 2022 Lyne’s form really dipped (even started running sideways too much like he used to). Gaskell was in much better form at right centre than Lyne that last 8 or so games.

Lyne is still a good player but he shouldn’t be an automatic selection on last years performances.

It’s strange, Gaskell wasn’t great at halfback and struggled to create much and kicked too early on some plays yet at centre he looked accomplished and played to a good standard.

If a quality half becomes available we certainly have the option to look at it and Gaskell can cover centre/full back.

As an aside I wonder if we have talked to Taupau from NRL as he seems to be available still. Would be a good pack leader for sure and be invaluable for the young props we have in our set up to have a player of his experience.

Talking of props Scott Taylor from FC maybe available. He’s a big unit and probably carries some risk but it could be worth a punt at the right price.

Really excited to see who we bring in!

Don’t forget when Gaskell played at centre it was in some occasions against weakened opposition, hence we could also move Hall to the second row.

He can hardly be blamed for the opposition selection.

None, it was on Trinity TV, but I've had a sniff around and I can't see anywhere where he states that no further additions will be made to the HB's. I'm not saying there are more to come, I just don't see anywhere it categorically states those three are it. You may be right, where is the article you've seen?

Not all, but predominantly a winger, but then so was Bill.

Time will tell I guess, I hadn't had chance to listen to TTV yet. Just read the snippet that was posted on seriousaboutrl.

“I like what I saw at Featherstone this year. With Mason, Gaskell and Morgan, I think we have a decent trio there and as I have said to them all I’ll pick on form, on efforts in training.

The point being some may believe that his centre performances are due to ability rather than strength of the players he is against that may give a false rating.

I agree that Reece's form dipped, but the whole team were struggling a bit generally. Gaskell got a lot of stick, some of it justified, but he is quite useful to have in a squad, if a little inconsistent...... :)

I think it’s really wise of Trinity to hold back and see what gems are unearthed in the World Cup. They could save a lot of money by going for the less well known players from down under looking to make a name for themselves and carve out a full time RL career.

This article is a really interesting read about the Fiji squad although it goes into depth on the other squads aswell….

Just had a look at one of their part time starting props joseph ratuvakacereivalu who looks impressive although I appeciate highlight reels can be deceptive…
