Hope it works. There are some big bodies running down that channel.

I agree, high risk gamble

Re: Hull on Friday : Fri Aug 19, 2022 6:23 pm
This game was primed for one of the reserve SR to step up such as Windrow. Poaching obviously views this game as a must win and keeping with the first team players. Genuinely I have no issue with Hall to SR, I think he’ll do well, he’s a physical lad who’s handled himself great. My issue is Croft at centre, I hope he proves me wrong tonight but he’s been below average sadly since his injury. Whats the best scenario, hall at Centre and Windrow at SR or Hall at SR and Croft at Centre. For me Hall at centre and Windrow at SR, but I am a armchair coach.

This was the point I was making when I offended some with my Poching can’t coach thread.

Apart from it being an utterly wacky selection it flies in the face of what WP and MC said is their philosophy. This was next man up!

If that’s the case it’s Windrow who should play. He may never have played first team but at least he’s played S/R once or many many times.

Sorry but there is no logic to this even if Hall does do ok. Basically why keep Windrow or Eseh or any of the fringe players, why not just rotate the first 20 players to fit regardless of experience.Lino to prop, why not. There is thinking outside the box then there is chucking the box on a bonfire.

Even if we win I remain totally unconvinced regarding Poching.

And then we have walker who is a loose forward playing from bench as interchange hooker, Bowden who’s a prop playing at loose, yet bowes did a decent job

We are now (slight) bookies favourites to win tonight. That makes me nervous.

Seeing as though we play gash the majority of the time on sky, I’ve been nervous all week!

To be fair to Croft he played well vs saints and was unlucky to be dropped the next game. He was improving game by game albeit slowly. It’s more the defence on that edge. They will need to be on it.

Looking at the hull team I thought the backs would be weak but they’re far from it.

I also agree I would have gone Windrow to right second row. I’m a fan of making as few changes as possible. Windrow straight in is one change and ‘next man up’ ….. yet we change 2 in positions. Risky imo. I’ll back them though. Let’s do this.

With regards players missing i think batch and shaul a massive more than kelepi i know jowitt returning is in some minds a offset of shaul missing but not for me there a huge difference between the pair.in regards second row did crowther not first come into side as a second rower all those years ago(maybe im wrong)but im also led to believe its a postion hall can cover and does want to play ,now if thats the case it 2 totally different choices crowther will be better defensive but hall will offer more in attack personnally think it will be crowther.
Reserves play saturday too so if that team gets announced before friday it may give some inclination of team for friday.

I did say hall could cover it although didnt think it would happen

Can you imagine if Chester had of made this selection, he’d of been slaughtered.

I’m in agreement with most on this one
Windrow to second row and leave Hall where he’s been all season, he’s a tough bloke and won’t shirk but why move him when there’s other options.

Jack Croft played the majority of his Junior days in the second row so he would have been the more natural selection there. He’s also bigger built than Hall and perhaps physically more durable for that role.
