I see Lesley Boon has set up a crowd funding page!

https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/save-london-broncos

£2800 when I last looked. Looking for £200,000

Very Laudable and good to see someone having a go but I’m unclear how this ties in with the official approach.

Where does the 200k figure come from? I can see people pitching in to the tune of 50k but 200 is a big, big ask.
What about the following year?
My gut feeling is that this isn’t the right approach unless (what’s left of) the club have OKd it.

Agree wirh you BT. If we were going down this route, it should have been done officially, unless there are legal reasons why that couldn't be done. I can only assume its a figure plucked from the air but highly unlikely to reach its total.

What did Salford do when Dr Koukash left?

Might be good to steal ideas given how well it's gone for them....

I see the LBSA have linked to this on twitter so must have their endorsement.

What the crowd funding exercise appears to show is that it could be a good way to achieve a specific aim. Pay for the salary of x player(s), cover the costs of travel to our first five games etc. Saving the club:not so much. But if you don’t try you don’t find out. I wonder how ST sales are going. As in earlier post I suspect 500 would be a really strong effort. Put those together and we are circa £250k off our target. Will be interesting to hear what consequences that has. Seems to depend on sponsorships but I assume that work was done by someone no longer employed by company so asking those left to get from nought to sixty on that in 3 months is a big ask.

I agree with you BT re Crowd Funding but feel such a stretching target can often put people off.

Of course we don't know how much notice of Hughes' pulling of the plug the club had but I am disappointed they didn't announce a range of memberships ie a non ticket on at say £50 for those that follow the club but not able to attend or turn the gold or Silver lounges into a Debenture area say for a 3 year membership at £1200 which covered your 3 years Season Tickets. Had 5 years as a Harlequins Debenture holder & very enjoyable it was too. They can of course still do this but the initial impetus has now gone.

I've signed up for 2 memberships & hoping for some non Sunday games so I can go. However, as a Crusader I signed up to Struddy's Life Membership, which in the end only lasted 2 years so very expensive STs they became. Clearly I will of had a poor record on London RL investment if this all goes belly up.

I suspect the club will need to accept a different reality with a rather more fundamental reset.

Yes I thought that was a possibility too. It’s such a huge target, some may well be put off, or give less as they may be concerned it’s just money wasted. I hope a few of our ex players, particularly those who have gone onto bigger things, can pop in a tenner or some such anonymously. That should push us towards 10k which would be a good effort.

Yes. We’ve all had a great deal of fun with the Gold Lounge etc but this model does seem to sift out the more expensive ST type, which I suspect impacts on few but some might have upgraded. I suspect they just wanted to keep it simple and gauge interest. That’s not a bad approach for where we are. As for DH, that’s a lengthy conversation for another day, but does it really feel to anyone like this is an orderly transition designed to maximise the club’s growth and existence?

I’ve signed up as well, but I fear that I may well be served up sub Championship fayre because the funds just aren’t there. And with 200k needed for PL (is that true?) it’s going to be testing. I’m not going through that early Coleman era malarkey again.

Yes me too. I suspect the essentials just to put out 13 bodies out and fulfill the fixtures is quite a big sum regardless of the standard of the team. So I assume that’s the first hurdle. It looks a way off but it feels like they are confident of getting to the start of the season. Whether we have the type of team and results that makes people want to go through it again is a big question. The worse we perform, the less interest and income we generate. I’m marginally more confident the team will start next season but thereafter it’s a complete mystery.
