Great that the club has not managed to put one tweet out on twitter today. To stay up to date with the game follow Sheffield Eagles twitter page.

I think it might be Jake who does this and he usually doubles up as announcer but I don’t think he was at PL today. Not sure our team was announced.

The pictures on their last tweet show a level of insecurity about attendances that is encouraging.......a snap of a queue at the turnstile......lol....

I can confirm that Dusty has now reverted to his original colour. Possible liberal use of anti-Grecian 2000. B and D gave it a good go at jollying the fans along. No complaints there.

A frustrating result but not one we have any right to feel too aggrieved about for me. That first 18 mins, we were an absolute rabble, dropping balls, errors in possession. We put a kick up in good ball with a numbers advantage, not a single one of our players jumps for it. Walker absolutely bawled the right edge out and for good reason. As much as we eventually came into the game and played some decent stuff, I thought Sheffield made life difficult for themselves as much as anything.
Looks like we came out of it with several injuries too.

Lovell’s drop in minute one was symptomatic of the first half. Both teams kept dropping the ball and making errors. Sheffield were dominant for first 20/25 and we have to give Broncos some credit that the score didn’t get away from us. Leyland’s miss was really poor. We really need to have more competition for kicking duties because it’s a real weakness. It wouldn’t surprise me if Bassett could do the job. 2nd half thought it was more even. We could have won but didn’t. Compared to the first two games of last season it’s chalk and cheese but bottom line two home losses on the bounce. Though Ulberg did well and Natoli. Didn’t think Albert did well. No Bienek. Think he could have been the difference.

[quote="Smithers99"]Frustrating result. Sheffield just the better team but London got themselves in a strong position and remained competitive. No Bienek today which I think left us one inside presence short, which became a big issue with Albert's early injury. Natoli and Basset showed a bit more today; I was a bit underwhelmed against Batley, but looked good today.

Kick-off to London. Turned it over. Sheffield attack our left. Macani out of position. Try. Not the greatest start!

Was impressed by Lovell, Stock and Silva today.

Raiwalui (or similar). Desperately needed. The team needs an x-factor in that position. Parata playing as a half back looks so wrong to me. Looked excellent last season. Maybe it's me but seeing little from him today. But he's in the wrong position surely.

Leading by two with lots of time to go, do you kick a penalty to lead by four? Then do you follow it by another to lead by six? Surely the odds starting inside the opposition's 22 twice are you'd expect a try. Even if you don't a converted try later would call and beat conceding a converted try. Instead our two penalties were only enough for a tie when Sheffield converted a try and we'd lost the imitative. Very defensive in my opinion.

In the first half Leyland's conversion hit the near post square on when he was kicking from about 10 yards off centre to his right. We wondered if that would bite us in the bum later. And it did.

With Albert likely injured. Bienek presumably injured. Waine yet to arrive. The three Wigan lads presumably an the end of their initial loan. Raiwalui who knows. Grant still out. I'd suggest this is "Recruitment Week" about four months too late. Whilst this team shouldn't be relegation level, they are falling straight into another relegation battle.

Crowd way down which is a shame. Will confidently start at 500+, but not hugely more. I can go a bit higher, but not threatening four figures.[/quote
I thought Parata was more a force this week but agree he is in no way as influential as last year. Yes no. More excuses this week we need to sign people. Next 3 games are winnable and we need to pick up points. As is we may not be able to name a 21 without dipping into the academy. That is inexcusable. On crowd size I would have said sub 500 10 minutes before kick off but I think another 200 or so turned up. I should also say that Sheffield brought some fans along which I don’t remember from years past. Reasonable atmosphere but we desperately need to win the next game against Swinton.

As I understand it he’s misplaced his London Broncos culture and won’t be played until he finds it. Possibly Palumbo took it with him by accident when he unexpectedly decided to leave the club having re-signed.

Didn't see this one. Interesting to hear macani found lacking in defence on the wing again. His inability to defend is becoming the difference between winning and losing on more than one occasion IMO
When will the calls start coming for Eccles to go I wonder?

I’m definitely calling on him to go.....out and get some more players.

I'm perhaps being a bit harsh off the back of what was a very frustrating result. You're right that we did well to stay in the contest, especially considering the number of errors early doors. I thought Sheffield's tactics were strange at times, seemed to be trying to move the point of attack constantly, which led to errors. I was expecting them to be much more direct given the differential in the packs. We do seem to be starting games very sluggishly in possession, something we need to fix up swiftly.
I thought Ulberg and Natoli did well too, Silva was a threat and of all the loanees, he's probably the one I'm keenest to keep hold of. Bill Leyland looked lively coming off the bench again. At least we have hooker depth! Pleased with how Bassett went as well, thought it was probably the strongest game he's had for us. It's clear that centre isn't his first choice position, but maybe he gets a run at FB if Walker has an injury. One of the trainers seemed to be following Walker around for a chunk of the second half, so fingers crossed.
Albert was poor and I thought he looked like he was carrying a knock from the start. Not sure what the sketch is with Bienek either, he might have been the difference as you say.
I probably take the overall same impression from the first four games. An improvement on this point last season, but it would be going some to match that. Feels like we have been in all of the games so far, but our consistency over 80 mins just isn't there yet.

As an aside, does anyone know what/who the presentation was for at the end of the game? I was hoping the club social media might have said something but.....

Re: Sheffield : Wed Mar 01, 2023 3:34 pm
I see Will Lovell got Player of the Match. As I said on Sunday I thought he had a good game. From what was posted here, it sounds like it was his mistake from the kick-off that resulted in Sheffields opening try. I was distracted at the start so had no idea whose mistake it was. He played well from that point onwards though.

Does anybody know if the individual player stats are publicly available for Championship matches? Somebody is presumably recording tackles, carries, yards gained etc.
