I know Gaz he lives and breathes the sport, he has turned up numerous times to watch my lad play and train with his team and even got involved with the training. He is a great bloke, I hope the team wont be his undoing though and he can get them to believe in themselves and perform as well as they did at the start of the season.

Think he holds to much respect for them not to play for him.

This is a very sensible appointment. He seems to have the respect of all & has his heart in the development of young players. Having seen what the man is about I'm glad we didn't go through the charade of advertising the post. We will have to be patient but there is not much point in looking back now at what decisions we've made before he took the job. New broom.

So basically you are saying that various board members, at various times, have made player recruitment decisions independent of, and in opposition to, the wishes of the coach at the time.

May I ask.

1. Does this extend to young players being sent out on loan/exile ?
2. When did this stop (if it has)?

Tony Smith did not want Kevin penny when he returned. This kind of signing has happend often at Warrington.

To reflect…

Looks like leaving Sam B to coach and letting Chambers to canopy player welfare and an academy transition was a smart move.

And one id been floating about on here before Powell was sacked.
I’m glad someone at the club was likeminded.

No more throwing the young lads under the bus.

I’m wondering whether the amount of younger players getting their chance this year is is purely down to Burgess and his philosophies, or whether he’s been told long term growth and development is more important than success week to week so it’s something coming from Chambers.

In Sam’s latest interview, he expanded on a question about Hayes on the quality of academy players made available to him and I think he mentioned Chambers.
I’ll have to have another listen.

It's all early days yet and when we faced a top team we lost. However it is refreshing to see young players given a chance.

The DoR is responsible for also identifying and recruiting the best overseas talent too. Lets see how we get on in the next batch of signings.

Adam Pierson’s “restructuring” of FC involves primarily installing a DoR who will appoint a new coach beneath him.
