Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

i think generally everything has been low key this season, there's been no arriving at the airport pics or anything.

I dont know if its changed recently at fans forums,(theres been a couple recently) but the one before xmas gave the air of, dialing stuff back a bit, trying to get fans back on side(thats a big thing off field community stuff and on field, keeps getting mentioned by moose) and also not saying whatsoever that we're aiming for a trophy.

i'm in two minds this year, i'm trying to clean slate it, but it could go a couple of ways, it could be that we've addressed a few issues with the pack, and we've got a speedster in dufty which could be enough on its own to win a fair few games, it could work.

OR

it could take ages for all the new players to click during games.

I'm happy for most ppl to not be automatically including us in top 5/trophy conversations so we can go about our business quietly

If that approach is deliberate it is the right choice. In Price's last couple of years wbroe kept spouting off to the press how we aimed to be best of the best and nothing less was good enough, making disparaging comments towards rivals like Wigan and Hull who would then beat us.

Speak less and let the rugby do the talking.

I also broadly agree with your take. I don't look at our squad and think trophy contenders, but the new pack additions pack promising. I like what I saw of Dufty last year, he could be one of those Aussies whose game really works in Super League.

I don't mind if it takes a while for new players to gel. If this year is like Arsenal last season - bad start and coach under pressure then showing signs as the year progresses that the programme is working - that's fine for me. I just don't want a year of us bouncing along in lower table with no harmony between the squad and coach.

Got to say too that I'm disappointed with the appointment of Ratchford too and agree with Boss Hogg here. Captaincy and leadership-wise, I've seen nothing from him, especially during the times we've needed on-field leadership. I would have gone with Mcguire or Williams or someone not associated with the last 7 years malaise.

Agree with this, I haven't seen anything that's shown Ratch as Captain material, especially considering what I was told before Xmas about how impressed the club have been with Vaughan's attitude and commitment towards the playing squad. I would have said he would have been the favourite to be named Captain, but hasn't even been named in the leadership group.

Would love to be proved wrong about Ratch though, and see us have a great season.

There's a frustrated optician, if ever I saw one (but only while wearing high magnification glasses).
