| Quote Saddened!="Saddened!"Whilst I was surprised they overturned it on a second appeal, the decision is clearly correct. Take the club element out of it and look objectively at the position the arm was put into. It wouldn't have hurt Atkin and there was no force involved. It's definitely a penalty and I agree with the yellow card as it stopped a quick play the ball near the line, but missing the Grand Final for that would be wrong. Saints were also able to demonstrate very similar if not worse incidents from this season that were also not banned.
It's also not the first time a player has been cleared to play in a Grand Final after being banned. Lee Smith for Leeds was cleared to play on appeal after being given a 4 game ban for kicking a player in the head. That maybe puts Knowles' (stupid but not dangerous) act into perspective?
I don't think any player has ever been banned from a Grand Final in Super League (I could be wrong).'"
So it's the correct decision..what a load of guff..so the disciplinary panel got it wrong on there original decision and again on the 1st appeal but miraculously got it right on the 2nd appeal..ah well I suppose it's to be expected from saints they can't accept owt that goes against em

| There’s a precedent been set now by the RFL that chicken wing tackles are OK. Interesting.

| As if there weren’t enough reasons to dislike the St Helens club. Jeez…..unbelievable Jeff.

| Someone made a comparison on another site that basically said that if you drive down the wrong way on a motorway and the cars coming towards you swerved to get out of the way.
Then whilst there`s intent you didn`t seriously injure anyone so you shouldn`t get a fine.
Knowles had intent but the player wasn`t badly injured so he got off.

| You cant prove he had intent though. His intent was clearly to stop him putting his arm down to play the ball, not hurt him. He applied next to no force he was just holding the arm whilst he ran to marker

The guy being tackled is Lomax, the defender holding his head in is Powell, the defender holding his arm up is Smithies, how many matches would they be screaming for on RedVee ?

Are you seriously trying to say Roby was at fault in this tackle as well? He was completing the tackle ffs
I'm never screaming for anybody to be suspended really. Think the only time I've ever really thought someone should get a long ban was Ben Flower because I thought he'd be lucky to avoid legal action.
Let the refs on the field deal with it, handle it like football when it comes to suspensions. Current system is a farce. Keep the players on the pitch

| You're officially the second worst club in Super League. I'd suggest you have more pressing concerns than who is or isn't available to play for St Helens come Saturday.

Go on I'll bite (it's nice to see someone other than saddened out of the 'twilight zone').
In this context it doesn't matter where we've finished, but thanks for your concern.
It might have had the same interest on here, should a Leeds player, say James Bentley, be treated in the same way. I'm not saying whether I agree with this or not or whether I agree or not with every disciplinary panel ruling or not but as a minimum I'd expect and favour a level of consistency across the whole season
You might have gathered that, but then again probably not, as in reality it's about fairness, clarity, transparency and the integrity of the sport.
