Because they was sniffing around Williams first is my understanding.

| Quote Dita's Slot Meter="Dita's Slot Meter"Couldn't care less to be honest. Our players being linked with other clubs (especially NRL) can only mean they are playing well and that is a good thing - I'd be more worried being lumbered with a load of dead wood that we can't get shut of.
Obviously, this situation means that Fitzpatrick and Powell must be on top of their game with regards to recruitment, but with how it's going this year with our new recruits, I'm more confident that can be done - I suspect that Powell knows what he wants with regards to what sort of player he brings in and it's not like we don't have the budget to back his judgement up.'"
I'm not totally convinced that Fitzpatrick and Powell are on top of their game with regards to recruitment. Were going in the right direction, as Dufty, Vaughn, Kasiano etc. DO want to play rugby for us, which massively helps. Things can change, and it's up to the coaching and other teams at our club, to keep everyone happy. It's a piece of cake when were 6 and 0, but challenges will come further down the line, and hopefully the vibe we currently have, will see us through any darker periods we encounter. Recruitment never stops, and we may have to replace the likes of Clark and Currie sooner rather than later. Six games are not enough to measure our recruitment in terms of a success.

Even if George has no intension whatsoever of returning to the NRL, he is hardly going to admit that, knowing that in his new contract negotiations, his Agent will be using bids from Australia, to boost his offers to stay in Super League.

I don't often disagree with you MPN but think at best your post is a bit harsh. Yes, things can quickly change a defeat or two an injury a homesick OH but without wishing to put the mockers on it so far the big name recruits seem to have bought into playing for us, you've said it yourself "DO" then kind of doubted the process/yourself.
Six games are indeed a small measure, but I have to say that for the first time in a long time we look like a cohesive TEAM and that should be (cautiously) applauded, as we'd have all been double quick to kick off should we be 2 from 6

| What I don't understand is what West's could offer him.....they're rubbish and have been for some time.
And don't say money, coz I'm sure we don't have any issues there.
Makes no sense for Wests, just depends who else came calling I suppose?

DP and KF's recruitment success will be measured in trophies, and as someone has pointed out SP won one. Last year was a train wreck, and this year does look and feel totally different in a very positive way. However, the proof will be measured in challenge cup and (fingers and everything else crossed) grand final wins. Six games in doesn't quantify that KF and DP are on top of their game in recruitment terms. Time will tell as to whether were the real deal, but we do look to have the potential and can look forward to better times ahead.

| Good points well made MPN
I agree that the ultimate proof of the pudding will be the trophy cabinet but I was judging the Dynamic Duo based on us being a 'work in progress' and in comparison to last year in particular.
Fingers crossed we'll need some Brasso come season's end, but if the cupboard somehow remains bare this year, what do consider is the minimum return from our recruitment investment?

A business success isn’t measured in trophies, it’s measured in money. Trophies are a goal, but still just a
desirable by product.

If Simon Moran's goal was to make money from Warrington, he's doing a dreadful job.
Thankfully it isn't.

That's assuming he didn't bet against the market and stick a million on us finishing 11th. He's very clever you know. He's probably made multiple times over what he's put into the club.

Good question. I had in mind that we'd finish between 5th and 7th this season, so anything better than that I'm treating as a bonus. That was all on the basis of how poor we were last season, and a high turn around of playing personnel going out and coming in. Next season, being DP's third, will carry a greater weight of expectation where silverware is concerned. A trophy is required by the end of 2024, otherwise on the bare facts, he will have underachieved in comparison to SP. Whether were in a better place going forward after three years of DP, that's more than a bit difficult to say in March 2023.
