Ignore the trolls mate. If they were that bothered they would put their hands in their pockets.

Wouldn’t mind but have you Salford’s website? It’s like a load of primary school kids designed it

And you'd know because you probably entered a submission to the competition.

You really must try harder LeBron, your attempts at humour are getting worse by the day.

And I thought this thread was going to be about those fans who'd rather look at their phones rather than the live match in front of them

That seems a weird thing to say.

I wasn't under the impression that the site needed financial support. In fact, I was under the impression that the site had donated four figure sums to charities and through sponsorship on several occasions?

I used to regularly give financial support to the Leeds board when it was SouthStanders.com, but I don't think I've even seen any requests since it was merged with RLfans.

It’s not a weird thing to say though Is it. It doesn’t take a simpleton to work out that the ads are there for a reason.

As for southstander.com “merging” I think it’s more a case of rlfans giving it a home

It is a weird thing to say. Calling people 'trolls' for having a civilised discussion that may benefit everyone using the board? Just because you don't like what they are saying? Ironic coming from the biggest troll on the board.

Also, the ads could be there to pay for web hosting, or could be there for greed. They may even be put there by a third party who is hosting the site and not benefiting the site owner at all. I'm sure only the admin know.

If it is for hosting, there could be easier ways of making the money, whilst providing a more user friendly site. That would potentially encourage more users if the constant barrage of ads were removed.

Simply asking for donations, or a membership with an added benefit. SouthStander.com would send you a pin badge and make enough money to pay for hosting, and sponsor a first team player, for example.

Even making the adverts more integrated with the site and less irritating for the user would be better.

I get the feeling you said that out of spite as it adds very little to the discussion. It doesn't really matter either way, does it? It was the board that got the most traffic at the time, and probably still does.

And you unfortunately just fed him.

does need a bit of work, but using ad blockers only makes it worse.

The adverts do indeed pay for: hosting, domains, security certificates, licenses and insurance. We do also occasionally donate to worthy causes and sponsorships. Without the adverts, or an alternative of equal value, there would sadly be no RLFANS.COM. As we have struggled over the years and put our own money in to keep the site running, the option of no RLFANS.COM is something that we have considered.

If we were to offer a totally 'Ads free' site for a monthly subscription, is this something which would appeal to people? What would be a reasonable monthly charge for such a subscription?

Who cares about the adverts. It literally takes half a second to close the add down. It’s only absolute losers that would complain about a service they don’t pay for

It's a real mystery as to why VT has died on its arris :EH: I'd guess the primary reason is nothing to do with ads...

I'd say it's more to do with the context or lack of.
