Why can't we have draws in super league games?

We're not american FFS we can handle games ending in a tie.

I'm not a fan of it either, it feels a very naff way to decide a game.
If they absolutely must have a result I'd go with the compromise of 1 point each and an extra point for the golden point winner.

DGs need to be taken out of the equation. It just becomes boring and on some occasions sides lose without even touching the ball.

I dont like it, it would be more bearable scoring golden point for an extra point, but I don't feel the team that lose out shouldn't get any points at all. This would work a lot better with 3 points for a win, so the spare bonus point goes to one of the sides but they still don't get a full 3 points.

If you can't beat a team in 80 minutes do you deserve full points? If you don't lose in 80 minutes do you deserve nothing? It just doesn't sit right with me.

That's a great point, never really thought about it like that. But I guess any possibility to share some points would increase the chances of teams playing for a point. E.g you're just above relegation or two points inside the play offs. You're better off not taking a risk and letting it go to golden point so you pick up a point.

What I meant (but didn't really explain clearly enough) is this: if we had a scenario where there were 3 points for a standard league win and zero for a loss. We could have a point each for a draw at full time and then the team that scores the golden point, picks up the spare bonus point, so they get 2 points instead of the 1 point that the golden point loser would receive.

No matter the outcome of the game there would always 3 points at stake which would be more fairly distributed pending the result. You can't do golden point in a fair way at the minute with 2 points for a league win, so I dont like golden point, but I'm not totally against the concept of golden point if the league points structure was changed a little.

I actually think rugby unions bonus point structure is really good, it's certainly revolutionised that sport, there is always something to play for with losing bonus point and try scoring bonus points.

I'm also of the opinion that they don't add anything to regular league games. I think a draw with 1 league point being awarded to each team is a more fair and fitting way of doing things.

In a playoff situation where you need a definitive result I can see why they are used. But a period of normal extra-time should be used first.

Leigh fan here, and it needs to be abolished, especially in a League that involves relegation.

Wakefield deserved their point. They should have one !!

“You are playing a game of football this afternoon but more than that you are playing for England, and more even than that, you are playing for right versus wrong. You will win because you have to win. Don’t forget that message from home. England expects every one of you to do his duty.”

There was a draw in the round at the weekend, or was there?

According to the match centre on the Ourleague app there were no draws and Salford beat Wakefield, but if you look at the predictions section it says there was a draw between Salford and Wakefield. The league table shows Wakefield received no league points so they must have lost, but what would a bookmaker say the result was?

It doesn't make any sense.

The only reason they look up to you is because they chose to kneel.

I can't stand golden point for regular league games anyway, but one of the things I hate about it in general is bookmakers legit just pick and choose whether or not they count it based on how they're feeling. I have been paid out after golden point countless times, but not every time. In the WCC I had welsby & hurrell to score and saints to win at 18/1. Skybet settled this as a loser, but 365 settled similar bets as winners. And sky have settled them as winners in the past. Its pretty infuriating
