No, Leeds did nothing like that. They appealed the extra game, it wasn't a re-appeal of the main ban.

Here Knowles and St Helens have uniquely been given the chance to double dip the appeals process on the original ban after the initial appeal, supposedly final and binding, found against them.

No one in the game has seen it before or can understand how or why it has been allowed to happen here in such an important week. It's causing consternation and a fair amount of fury amongst other clubs, a few of who are raising their heads over the parapet.

This will carry on well after the Grand Final is forgotten about and presumably St Helens have got their win. God knows what's going to be left for IMG to try and put back together.

Something can be a penalty and a yellow card but not be worth a ban. That was my take on the Knowles incident all along. It was stupid and he shouldn't be doing it. But whilst it fit into the category of an offense, it was so soft that a yellow card and no ban was the right call for me. I've said that all along. There were high tackles and a shoulder charge in the Leeds semi final, no one is jumping up and down over those, because they weren't severe enough for a player to miss a game over. Same thing here for me. I'm not saying he didn't do anything wrong, just that it was never worthy of the initial punishment.

I’ve not posted on here for quite a few years, but still occasionally read the forum.

I felt the need to comment in this instance that your defending of this farce just would not happen if this was a Leeds player that was involved. You can find ways to justify however you want but it’s so clear your opinion on this is based on it benefiting the team you support, not because of the utter lunacy of the RFL. I, like tens of thousands of others (as seen in ever declining attendances and viewing figures) have become disillusioned with the game I loved more than any other. Perhaps take the St Helens fan at all costs persona off and actually appreciate not only how this looks within the game, but how it looks from the outside too. At almost every single step over the last few years our game has looked more and more amateurish. Most of my friends who were following super league have stopped (I’m Scottish so it was never a given they would follow it at all).

Finding specifics within the appeal to defend it when it has set a completely unprecedented decision at this stage of the season shows you’re more bothered about your club than the game as a whole. It’s going to be a follow victory when you soon find the interest in super league dwindles further and the grandeur of winning the grand final is nothing but a footnote on a Wikipedia page. The game is an absolute mess and allowing this sort of appeal only further highlights how embarrassing it has all become.
Rule 1. I am always right.
Rule 2. If in any case I appear wrong, refer to rule 1.

How many times do you need this spelling out. No leeds didn't, they challenged the 'frivolous' judgement and additional game added to the ban.

Probably, like Saints, enough times until they grind you down until you feel pressurised to reverse your position....

The problem is whichever way you look at this it shows the RFL as incompetent and the MRP as not fit for purpose

Are we seeing History repeating itself between Leeds and Saints. Go back to the 2008 grand Final and we had a very similar scenario and outcome. Lee Smith was expected to miss the grand final after kicking out into Phil Baileys (Wigoon) with blood everywhere, he was expected to get up to a 4 match ban.

Then something changed he was given a £300 fine a slap on the wrist and was allowed to play in the grand final, Saints fans accused Hethrington of influencing the decision. What made it worse was Lee Smith went on to win the Harry Sutherland Trophy that day.

We,ve been saying for years the disciplinary panel is not fit for purpose, should be dismantled and the process has to be more transparent, Ian Millward called for it decades ago but the RFL just turned a blind eye and watched the disciplinary panel to have a chaotic mind of its own.
The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

Look. You can all aim your vitriol at St Helens all you want but the fact of the matter is, its the RFL who is at fault here and no one else. Knowles was charged with "unacceptable risk of injury" which clearly it wasn't. This was disproved by a sports scientist and as such, thankfully, there was no miscarriage of justice.

St Helens have just done what no other team has had the balls to do and challenge further, a ludicrous MRP decision (of which there seems to be at least one every week)

The whole MRP process is stupid. Knowles gets a 2 game ban for nothing but a Watkins shoulder charge straight into Bennisons face doesnt even get looked at?
