Props for 2023? : Wed Nov 23, 2022 4:53 pm
Looking at the squad we look a bit short on proven experienced props. My two starters, based on the squad as announced on 23 November would be Lawrence and Baldwinson.

Then Scurr would be first choice off the bench but then we have the following to pick from:

Bradley Ho
Marcus Green
Dalton Desmond Walker
Fenton Rogers (loanee)

Then we're looking at second rowers moving up to prop which is a very tough ask nowadays.

I think we need to recruit at least one more prop.

He's got the bulk to fill in at prop but is generally an SR. With Bullseye here, if the purse permits, one seriously big, 'ard and seasoned specialist to be bought. Who? From where? At this stage these things are difficult. This is where Nobby should earn his rub.

Regrets? Bongser has has a few. But then again too many to mention.

There will be some on this forum old enough to recall England's Glory matches made by Bryant & May before disposable lighters took over. On the back of the matchbox would be a random witticism. The one that now comes to mind was from the US writer, Heywood Broun (confess, had to look that bit up) who defined repartee as "what you wish you'd said."

What Bongser wishes he'd posted is, "This is where Nobby should earn his NUTS!"

Just sharing another piece of Bongser's weird mind.

Thompson has played most of his career in the back row. When did he move up to prop?

Leeds last year

Thompson will be a prop next year. Then have Scott/Wallace/England etc as SR.

I’d love to see another prop or two come in. And play Lawrence/Appo at 13.

And Butler if he makes recovery from his serious eye injury.
