Hull FC have announced that nine players will not be involved in their 2013 campaign, and that Martin Aspinwall is still at the club despite unconfirmed reports he is on his way to Leigh.
The club have not offered extensions to quartet, Will Sharp, Liam Cunningham, Lewis Brown and Mike Burnett who are all now searching for a new club.
Sam Moa is on his way back to Australia for family reasons, Tony Martin is to retire and Laurence Pearce is changing codes, whilst Willie Manu and Jordan Turner have both declined offers in favour of a move to St Helens.
Ryan McGoldrick and Martin Aspinwall are the other two out of contract players but the club have revealled that discussions as to their future are ongoing.
“All the players leave the club with our best wishes and we wish them will for their future endeavours in rugby league," said Director of Rugby, Shaun McRae.
“Unfortunately in our sport we always have difficult decisions to make at this time of the year and we have decided not to renew a number of contracts for players.
“They go with our best wishes, particularly Willie who has been fine servant to the club over the last few years and I’m sure the supporters will look back fondly on his contribution in recent seasons.
“In terms of Ryan and Martin, we continue to remain in contact with both the players and their agents as we finalise our squad for 2013.
“It’s not accurate that Martin has left the club and indeed remains in talks with us over his future and we expect to have a number of areas firmed up and completed over the next couple of weeks.”

USER COMMENTS | | I'm stunned that Mike Burnett didn't get offered a new deal.
JOKE.
|
| | You mean he should have put it on the Martin Aspinwall thread ? |
| | Surely The club would not make another official 'Andy Bracek signs' style announcement only to then tell us he has not really.
|
| | Wouldnt mind us signing Will Sharp TBH.
|
| | Why when we need a centre ?
|
| | Maden should be at centre with a new fast winger outside him.....Pownall on the other side.
|
| | Steve Maden is not big enough to be a centre"

After a relegation fight are you?
Pownall, Maden and Gardiner to fight for a wing position imo. Ballard would be nice to have. |
| | Gardners never played wing though. He's clearly a centre.
|
| | drifting slightly here, but did we sign Higson back or have I dreamt it |

Mat Gardner was and still is a winger who we just happen to play in the centres because he has size, check his history. All the better teams target him at centre, and most do it well. |

Signed for Swinton |

| | Swinton chairman said Higson wanted to listen to their offer. I imagine he'll go where the money is.
|
| | With Armstrong signed with t'eagles now I think swinton will keep hold of Higson by all means
|
| | Players have to consider the money on offer but' they will also take into account likely win bonuses.
I am confident our team next season will be stronger than last.
|
| | I rate Higson & would love to see him back here but if he don't want to play for us then feck him he obiviously has no aspirations as a successful (on field ) rugby player
|
| | My understanding is that Adam has just had/is about to have a knee clear out. It would be folly for anyone, including us, to sign him until he is able to prove the success of that procedure.
|
| | feck that maybe the season after next
|
| | I spoke to Trevor last night and he said aspinwall is a Leigh player and this is registered with the rfl
|
| | I suspect Martin will still be under contract to Hull until November - that's when most contracts run to.
Here's a couple of hypotheses for you: I wonder if he wants to stop playing full-time RL, (and travelling across the country) to concentrate on the next phase of his working career, after RL, and play 'part-time'? I also wonder whether Hull have made the noises about still being in discussion with him, to ease the disappointment among their fans, at having to let him go?

Yet still no official announcement from the club. |

I have heard the same from someone else close to the club. |

| | Well Fax can pay us then, Was told his contract/registration was lodged at the RFL over a week ago.
|
| | Aspinwall is a signed Leigh player but that doesn't stop Basil trying to shaft us again!!
|
| | First Ellis now Aspinall why do you still have him as your avatar then Ste?

Operating on iPhone pal once back on the laptop it will be changed!! |
| | Does anyone know whats happened ,here as the two weeks cooling off period must be up, so is he our player, has Hull kept him, or has Basil shafted us again?
|
| | At the players night I was told if no club that is unrelegatable comes in for him by the end of October he will be in a Leigh shirt next season.

Think it's 4 weeks Lynda. However, he was definitely on Hull's list of players that were being released at the end of their contracts, which is a peculiar way of saying they want to keep him! |
