It seems a little ironic that people who spend their time actively pursuing a career in rugby league will have their chance to be recognised by something which, once installed, will never move again.
The Rugby Football League are looking for fans comments on which Rugby League legend should have their statue commissioned and erected at the new Wembley Stadium as a lasting example of our great game.
Martin Offiah, Wigan star of many sensational appearances at the old Wembley is the most recent player on the RFL's shortlist of six.
You can vote for any of the six-strong shortlist - Billy Boston, Eric Ashton, Martin Offiah, Gus Risman, Alex Murphy, or a group representation, by sending an e-mail to wembley.statue@rfl.uk.com with your views. The RFL's decision will be announced ahead of the Challenge Cup final on 25 August.
